From rehabilitating a seismic cut line to repairing and replacing aging pipelines, Great Excavations

Attachments include dredges, pile drivers, tree cutters and many more. All of our equipment can be customized to suit the client’s specific job requirements. Our equipment has been used in a variety of sectors and applications, including oil field, municipal government and environmental remediation projects. We have owned and operated many brands of amphibious equipment, and our extensive experience makes us an industry leader in determining what works best, and where. The 1973 Terex 33-19 Titan was a groundbreaking prototype haul truck built by GM’s Terex division. At 66 feet long, 25 feet wide, and 22 feet tall, it could carry 350 tons of material, making it the largest truck of its time. Powered by a 3,300-horsepower diesel-electric engine, it first hauled iron ore in California before moving to Sparwood, British Columbia.

There, it worked for Westar Mining until its retirement in 1991. Though only one was ever built due to high costs and limited demand, the Titan remains a symbol of heavy industry and today stands as a monument in Sparwood.

What is caribou habitat restoration? Watch this speedy video for a quick overview of linear deactivation of a seismic cutline, a process that helps promote tree regrowth to inhibit wolves from hunting caribou with too much success.

Our techniques include mounding (big piles of dirt), bending (trees being tilted over to stress roots and encourage saplings), and transplanting (taking healthy trees from the sides of the lines and moving them to the mounds).
