It's beginning to look like winter this week in Calgary. We see increased incidents of pipe bursts, emergency flooding, and attic rain in the colder months. It is important to winterize your property and now is a great time. Both inside and outside the property. A few steps you can take:-
- Make sure the eavestroughs are clear, draining, and shutting the outside faucets.
- Seal any cracks or gaps around windows and doors to prevent drafts and ice buildup.
- Ensure your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are working properly. Replace old batteries.
- Inspect & clean of your furnace to ensure it's running efficiently. Replace air filters regularly to improve airflow and energy usage.
- Know where the water shut-off valve is located in the property in case of a water emergency
- Revisit your insurance policy to make sure you have adequate coverage.
These are a few steps you can take to protect your property as we approach the cold months.
