A hot tap is a method used to safely make a new connection to an existing pipeline or piping system while it remains in operation.

Instead of shutting down and depressurizing an entire system, specialized equipment is used to create a controlled opening in the operating line. This allows a new branch connection, valve or other component to be added while maintaining product flow.

From planning and constructability to ex*****on, understanding how work interacts with an operating system is an important part of successful pipeline projects.

Pipeline construction involves much more than putting pipe in the ground. Clearing and preparing the right-of-way is an important part of getting a project ready for construction.

Burning slash is one method used to manage woody debris created during clearing activities. When conditions, regulations and project requirements allow, controlled burning can help safely reduce accumulated timber, branches and vegetation along the right-of-way.

Aqua Dams are one method used during pipeline water crossings to isolate the work area and manage water flow while crews complete the crossing. By creating a temporary barrier, crews can work in a more controlled environment while helping minimize disturbance to the surrounding waterway.
