There was no reference plant to learn from. No comparable project. No proven playbook.
It was a first-of-its-kind facility that we had to get right.
Yesterday, our CEO, Scott Mussbacher, joined CEO Nicholas Flanders and the Twelve team for the ribbon-cutting at AirPlant™ One in Moses Lake, WA.
It's the first commercial-scale plant in the United States to produce E-Jet® SAF from CO₂, water, and renewable electricity.
And its end-to-end engineering was completed by our talented Calgary-based team at Vista Projects🙌
The jet fuel contains no biomass, no petroleum. It meets ASTM specifications and is drop-in compatible with existing aircraft.
Alaska Airlines will operate regular domestic flights on it. Twelve also has a book-and-claim SAF agreement with Microsoft.
As Scott Mussbacher said at the ceremony:
"AirPlant™ One is proof that a first-of-a-kind CO₂-to-SAF facility can be engineered for scale, built on schedule, and brought to commercial operation on the first attempt."
We're grateful to Twelve for trusting us with this complex engineering design.
🙏 Thank you to everyone on the Vista team who worked on this challenging project. You delivered!
