Our new ⚡ Energy Lives Here ⚡ series will shine a spotlight on some of the local people and businesses we work with - sharing their stories, showcasing the work they do and highlighting the local skills, knowledge and expertise they bring to the Project.

Because when Project needs can be met locally, we want local businesses and service providers to have opportunities to participate.

Today offered an important opportunity to come together in remembrance and reflection.

Energy Alberta team members attended the City of Calgary’s Remembering the Children event hosted at The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland. They joined others to honour Survivors, their families and communities, and reflect on the lasting impacts of the residential school system.

Through Indigenous voices, cultural performances, a moment of silence and a round dance, the gathering created a space to reflect on the history and ongoing impacts - and on what reconciliation asks of all of us.

We’re grateful to those who shared their stories, knowledge and traditions, and for the opportunity to listen and learn.

For generations, the Peace River has shaped the landscape and supported communities, wildlife and ways of life across northern Alberta.

With coming up this Sunday, we’re celebrating this remarkable river - and reflecting on our responsibility to help protect it.

As we plan the Peace River Nuclear Power Project, understanding and protecting the Peace River watershed is a priority that will continue throughout the life of the Project.

Because the Peace is more than a river. It’s part of what makes this region home.

The best conversations happen when we have the chance to connect directly with local leaders.

This morning, Energy Alberta welcomed municipal leaders from the Project area attending the Alberta Municipalities Convention & Trade Show for breakfast and a discussion with our President and CEO, Scott Henuset.

The purpose was simple: share an update on the Peace River Nuclear Power Project, answer questions directly and, most importantly, hear what matters to local leaders.

Municipalities understand their communities. They know the opportunities they want to pursue, the pressures they’re facing and the questions their residents are asking. That local perspective is important as we consider everything from workforce development and infrastructure to economic opportunities and community impacts.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this morning for the candid questions and thoughtful perspectives. We look forward to keeping it going.

🚗☀️ What a summer in the Peace Region!

Energy Alberta was proud to help sponsor the River Country and KIX FM Summer Events Cruiser this year, supporting its work to celebrate everything happening across the Peace Region.🎉

And a special shout-out to Face For Radio, who was the face of the Cruiser and did a fantastic job getting out into the community and profiling so many of the local businesses, events and people that make the Peace Region special.

For us, being part of these events is about more than having a booth or handing out swag. It’s an opportunity to meet people where they are, hear what matters to them, answer questions about the Peace River Nuclear Power Project and continue building relationships across the region.

It was great to be part of a fantastic group of local partners helping keep the Go Auto Events Cruiser cruising all summer long: Buchholtz Financial Services Inc., Peace Country Co-op, Peace River Ford, Peace River Chrysler, Remax Northern Realty, Northern Sunrise County, No Frills and Signs By Wood ‘N' Art 🙌

⚡️ The Peace River Nuclear Power Project is part of growing interest in the future of nuclear energy in Western Canada.

Following the signing of a new MOU between Alberta, Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories to explore nuclear energy and strengthen grid reliability, the Peace Regional Energy Alliance (PREA) shared its perspective on what the agreement could mean for the region.

PREA welcomed the MOU as an important step for Western Canada’s economic and energy future, highlighting the Peace River Nuclear Power Project and the region’s readiness to support the emerging nuclear sector.

As interest in new nuclear grows, so does the Peace Region’s role in the conversation.
