“This is not about making you feel guilt; this is about moving forward with our eyes open.”

Recently, members of the Energy Alberta team participated in a KAIROS Blanket Exercise, localized to the Peace Region, to better understand the history, experiences and resilience of Indigenous Peoples in Canada.

Through storytelling, historical teachings and interactive participation, the experience encouraged reflection and helped deepen understanding of the history and resilience of Indigenous Peoples in Canada.

The exercise reflects Energy Alberta’s commitment to listening, learning and meaningful engagement with Indigenous Nations and Communities connected to the Peace River Nuclear Power Project.

Strong economies are built on stable, long-term industries.

Canada’s nuclear sector supports thousands of jobs and delivers significant economic activity year after year.

The Peace River Nuclear Power Project would bring that kind of lasting investment to Alberta - supporting workers, local businesses and local economies while delivering clean, reliable electricity.

⚡What does the future of nuclear energy in Canada look like?

That conversation was front and centre at the Canadian Nuclear Association’s 2026 Conference where leaders from across the country came together to discuss the growing role of clean, reliable nuclear power.

A featured panel, with Energy Alberta’s President and CEO Scott Henuset and Tracy Primeau of Agile Bear Consulting, explored the Peace River Nuclear Power Project as a case study for advancing first-of-a-kind nuclear development in Western Canada.

The conversations focused on trust, governance, community readiness and long-term opportunity.

You may start to see field crews out and about in the Peace Region this spring and summer.

Energy Alberta is conducting environmental field studies to support planning for the proposed Peace River Nuclear Power Project. This includes looking at water, wildlife, fish habitat, soils, vegetation, air quality and more.

This work is an important step in understanding the local environment and helping us plan responsibly - while working alongside Indigenous Nations and Communities to incorporate traditional knowledge and perspectives.

Curious about what crews are doing and what you might notice in the area?
