We couldn’t agree more with the Honourable Brian Jean – Alberta’s geology is an extraordinary source of prosperity and opportunity. Dare we say, among the best in the world.
Combined with its reputation as a jurisdiction known for its business-friendly policies and a clear, predictable regulatory framework, Alberta truly stands out as a global leader in energy and resource development.
We look forward to continuing to work with government and industry partners to foster collaboration, drive meaningful progress, and unlock economic potential that benefits communities, industries, and future generations alike.
Alberta’s geology is an amazing source of prosperity and opportunity! It makes us world leaders in oil and gas production, brine-hosted mineral extraction, and carbon sequestration. Alberta companies are leading projects that will use our subsurface geology to mine for lithium and other minerals in brine, while other companies are permanently storing CO2 underground even while they us it for enhanced oil recovery (EOR). We support the simultaneous development of these world-leading technologies and are committed to a regulatory system that promotes the sharing and development of the subsurface.
I am very pleased to see the progress being made by Alberta’s world-leading lithium and CCUS developers as they work in our deep saline aquifers to produce an important new resource and to reduce the province’s carbon emissions.
Our government is committed to fostering a predictable and robust policy framework and a regulatory regime that supports both brine-hosted mineral development and CCUS. We are striving to design rules that further attract investment needed to scale these critical new industries and position Alberta as a preferred producer and supplier of lithium and the top jurisdiction for carbon sequestration and enhanced oil recovery with CO2.
Alberta is not just the best place in the world to invest; it is the best place to innovate and build the future of energy.
