Newport Manufacturing is seeking a skilled Yard Hand & Shipper/Receiver to handle material prep, shipping, and yard duties in a fast-paced, safety-focused metal fabrication environment. Position Overview

Pay: Starting at CA$24.00 - CA$28.00 per hour (depending on experience)

The Yard Hand & Shipper/Receiver plays a key role in preparing materials for fabrication and coordinating the shipping and receiving of goods. You’ll operate loader, skid steer plus band saws and other cutting equipment, maintain organized yard operations, and ensure materials are handled safely and efficiently.

This position is ideal for someone mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a hands-on shop environment.

Key Responsibilities

Band Saw Operation

Operate band saws and cutting machinery to cut steel materials per drawings and measurements.
Read and interpret blueprints and job instructions.
Verify accuracy using measuring tools (calipers, tape measure, squares, etc.).
Perform equipment setup, basic programming, and maintenance checks.
Ensure quality and safety standards are met at all times.
Shipping & Receiving / Yard Duties

Load and unload trucks safely using skid steer or loader.
Mark, label, and organize incoming and outgoing materials.
Maintain accurate shipping and receiving documentation.
Keep yard and shop areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety policies.
Support other production areas as required.
Qualifications

Experience in fabrication, machining, or industrial environments preferred.
Proficient in reading blueprints and technical drawings.
Strong math and measurement skills.
Skid steer and loader operation experience an asset.
Physically capable of handling steel materials and working in a shop/yard environment.
Reliable, organized, and safety-minded with strong teamwork skills.

This role involves working with metal components to assemble and fabricate products according to specifications, ensuring high-quality standards are met throughout the manufacturing process.
Responsibilities
Perform FCAW, GMAW & SMAW welding on various materials, ensuring strong and precise welds.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine project specifications.
Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment effectively for assembly and fabrication tasks.
Operate machinery such as oxy / act torch, plasma cutters, and drills as needed.
Conduct rigging operations safely to move heavy components during assembly.

We are seeking a skilled Saw Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating various saws and cutting equipment to fabricate materials according to specifications. This role requires attention to detail and a commitment to quality, ensuring that all products meet industry standards.

Duties

• Operate saws and cutting machinery to cut materials accurately based on blueprints and specifications.
• Assist welders and fabricators with prep work, material handling, and part movement
• Load and unload steel, tools, and shop equipment
• Perform grinding, cutting, and basic finishing work on metal parts
• Handle scrap disposal and assist in receiving inventory
• Fabricate components using hand tools and machinery, ensuring precision in measurements and cuts.
• Conduct quality inspections of finished products, utilizing calipers and other measuring tools to verify dimensions.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols at all times and wear required PPE
• Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues with machinery and improve production processes.
• Assist in the setup of machines for new jobs, including adjusting settings based on material types.
• Shipping & receiving duties including; operate skid steer & loader, marking materials & general yard organization
• Complete general shop and maintenance tasks as needed
Requirements
• Proven experience in machining or fabrication environments is preferred.
