It may come as a bit of a surprise, but the Arriscraft Cambridge manufacturing plant has a pretty little secret. All around our grounds, we have pockets of nature, which is full of plants, birds, fish and four legged friends. This year we have spotted deer, coyotes, rabbits, mink, a snapping turtle and birds. So many birds! This biodiversity is very important to Arriscraft, and our parent companies Wienerberger and General Shale Each Wienerberger location around the globe has a biodiversity team that is dedicated to maintaining and enhancing our natural landscape. This year's venturers for Arriscraft included planting some more native plants to invite insects and honey bees, placing bird and insect homes, and creating habitat with shrub piles.

As you can see, different joint styles create contrasting looks using the same stone. Our versatile Coastal thin stone can deliver modern appeal or rustic charm - depending on your mortar installation. For a 'bagged joint', the spaces or joints are filled with mortar using a grout bag - similar to icing a cake!

Coastal thin stone is available in a wide range of colours, in smooth/sawn and split face finishes.

It's well known that masonry materials won't propagate a fire. However, masonry has become thinner and thin adhered masonry veneer systems have evolved - now being installed over continuous insulation systems (that can include combustible elements such as foam plastics and water proofing membrane) to meet energy codes.

We undertook the NFPA-285 test with our thin stone installed over ProGUARD DP® Insulated Concrete Board Panels and passed with flying colours.

Arriscraft and Canada Brick were once again thrilled to participate in the Jill of All Trades event at Conestoga College. This inspiring initiative brings together young women from local high schools to explore the world of skilled trades.

Participants gain hands-on experience across a range of disciplines—from HVAC and automotive repair to our personal favourite: masonry. It’s an incredible opportunity to build skills, confidence, and awareness of the many rewarding career paths available in the trades.

The day is filled with positive energy—from the inspiring words of Mandy Renehan to the excitement of participants trying something new and discovering their potential. We hope the experience sparks an interest in pursuing the trades as a career option.
