I had a customer come to me with quite a cool request. As a master of carpet installations, he wanted to have his Olfa knife quick at hand to cut his material. He also wanted to be able to keep a good edge on it without digging in his pocket for his sharpener.

I came up with this cool little friction fit pouch that holds the sharpener on the front as the leather wraps around the contours of the plastic housing, while also having a spot in the back for the cutter. I am eager to hear how it works on the day to day.

Well, now that all the craziness of the move is over, and our wedding is done, I can now post these photos of the belts I made for my groomsmen and our fathers as a thank you gift. One of the projects that started this entire leatherwork journey of mine.
These pieces turned out beautiful and gave me a couple challenges along the way.
In the end, they were made with love and gratitude for those who wore them, and they looked especially snazzy with the wedding attire!

I have more items waiting to get onto the bench, and I am excited to share them with you once they are completed. So keep your eyes on the page! There are more posts coming!

I shipped out an order of wallets at the start of the week. They are for a customer who wanted to give their groomsmen something as a thank you, and something that will last a lifetime. This was an interesting project as the customer wanted to customize these by adding the names of his party on the front flap. They had to be burned and not stamped, which is a challenge when you do not have a hot press, or a cursive font. So, a printed template and a wood burning tool later, and these things came out awesome.

The completed piece. A new sheath for an old piece of gear. Protection for a lot of sentimental value and years of memories. This customer was not a fan of the looseness from the original sheath as it hung on his belt, he wanted something tighter fitting. As he explained to me the knife and sheath were many years old, used by his father, and held a lot of value to him, I decided to not fix the current sheath with a sturdier loop. Instead, I kept it how it is to preserve it and the memories that it holds, and opted to make a new sheath from a thicker weight leather with a much stiffer belt loop.

The end product came out wonderful, made from six to seven oz vegetable tan material in this awesome brown. It is extremely sturdy and much more robust than the old sheath. In the end the customer was very pleased to have the old sheath back in it's original condition, and a new one that will last his lifetime like the original did his fathers.
