A quick little project before the provincial move. A return customer wanted another knife sheath for a small blade. This thing turned out wicked. Double sided carry on the belt on any side.

The completed piece. A new sheath for an old piece of gear. Protection for a lot of sentimental value and years of memories. This customer was not a fan of the looseness from the original sheath as it hung on his belt, he wanted something tighter fitting. As he explained to me the knife and sheath were many years old, used by his father, and held a lot of value to him, I decided to not fix the current sheath with a sturdier loop. Instead, I kept it how it is to preserve it and the memories that it holds, and opted to make a new sheath from a thicker weight leather with a much stiffer belt loop.

The end product came out wonderful, made from six to seven oz vegetable tan material in this awesome brown. It is extremely sturdy and much more robust than the old sheath. In the end the customer was very pleased to have the old sheath back in it's original condition, and a new one that will last his lifetime like the original did his fathers.

It's coming along nicely. A very different challenge though as the blade has quite the curve. I like a challenge as they always help me learn more and build skills.
Now to shape and punch holes for stitching.

Just cutting some leather this evening. Remaking an old knife sheath thats been worn out after many years of use.

I got a basket weave stamp. I'm trying it on a catch tray. The stamping came out pretty good but the tray is not taking the shape I want. Oh well, try and learn. I will just make another one better.

I polished off the dog collar with the tooling and antique finish yesterday. It took a long time to dry and the tooling turned out pretty good for my first time. My favorite part is the "holly" detail. A touch of softness to the toughness of the leather piece. I will definitely be making more of these in the future. More tooling to come!
