When planting trees this Spring, be sure to keep power lines in mind. Your small sapling will one day become a large, beautiful tree. A tree that grows to 30 ft. at maturity should be planted at least 45 ft. away from power lines to help prevent future safety hazards or risk of power outages.

Abby Lewis-Fox, Sustainability Coordinator at Maritime Electric, was recently invited to serve as a special prize judge at the PEI Provincial Science Fair. Abby helped present the Inclusive of Diversity in Engineering and Leadership in Sustainability Award as part of Dr. Amy Hsiao’s IDEaLS Initiative. The awards were presented to either students who identify as Indigenous and/or acknowledge or use Indigenous knowledge in their projects or to groups with girls or non-binary students whose projects demonstrate Sustainability or Engineering concepts.
