Celebrating 120 Years with Our Community
For the first time in 20 years, we welcomed the public inside our Chester facility. Nearly 400 people joined us to explore our work, see a history display created with the help of the local museum and private collectors, and even try a live welding experience.

It was especially encouraging to meet students and families exploring careers in engineering and the skilled trades. We also held 20 onsite interviews and had many more conversations with people interested in joining our team.

Thank you to the 27 Hawboldt employees who volunteered, and to everyone who helped make the day possible. We appreciated the support of the Municipality of Chester, Danielle Barkhouse, the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency, Employment Solutions Society - Nova Scotia Works Employment Services Centre, Forest Heights Community School, and Dalhousie University co-op program.

After 120 years, it was a pleasure to share Hawboldt’s history with our neighbours—and to meet people who may become part of its future.

A Major Milestone for Hawboldt Industries

Hawboldt Industries is proud to announce that it has been awarded a contract by Davie valued at more than $15 million CAD, to provide a turnkey package of science mission equipment for the Polar Max Icebreaker being built for the Canadian Coast Guard /Garde côtière canadienne.

Our scope includes advanced research winches equipped with permanent magnet motors and active heave compensation, a moon pool deployment system, overboard and shipboard handling systems, cranes, centralized operator controls, hydraulic power units, and electrical power cabinets.

The project will draw on Hawboldt’s engineering, project management, manufacturing, and testing capabilities in Chester, Nova Scotia—supporting highly skilled Canadian jobs and showcasing advanced Canadian marine technology.
