It's that time of year again when the weather is unpredictable. Take a few minutes to walk around your home to check for standing water following a heavy rain. Be sure it is not coming from gutters or downspouts that are plugged . If you haven't clean your gutters take a few minutes and call a professional company to come and clean them for you. Most companies will check for damage during the cleaning. Don't forget that frost and cold are on their way in coming weeks. Be sure you have detached your garden hoses to prevent damage to your home and your hoses. These are just a few ways you can prepare your home for the winter months ahead.

Now is a good time of year to be sure to clean your gutters and downspouts. We are expecting heavy rains here in the Fraser Valley over the next few days. Spend some time walking around your home to see if you have over flowing gutters. Contact a professional in gutter cleaning and be prepared for the Fall and Winter that is ahead of us.

Heading out for you vacation? Make sure to check with the area that you are going for all precautions that need to be taken to protect our forests from fires. Have a great time enjoying our beautiful Province of BC and our amazing country of Canada.

Effective at 12 p.m. (noon) PDT on Thursday, July 17, Category 1 open fires (campfires) will be prohibited across the Coastal Fire Centre, excluding the Haida Gwaii Forest District and the portion of the Central Regional District that falls within the North Island Central Coast Forest District.

This prohibition will remain in place until 12 p.m. (noon) PDT on Oct. 30, 2025, or until the order is rescinded.

Prohibitions apply to all public and private lands unless otherwise specified. In addition to prohibiting the use of open fires of any size, the following activities are prohibited in most areas:
• Fireworks; as defined in the Fireworks Act;
• Binary Exploding Targets;
• Sky Lanterns
• Wood fired hot tubs, wood fired pizza ovens and other wood fired devices unless vented through a structure that has a flue and is incorporated in a building;
• Burn Barrels or Burn Cages of any size or description;
• Controlled air incinerators
• Air curtain burners; and
• Carbonizers.

This prohibition does not ban the use of cooking stoves with a CSA or ULC rating that use gas, propane or briquettes.

Prohibitions for Category 2 and 3 open fires are also in place for the Coastal Fire Centre, with the exception of the Haida Gwaii Forest District.

Good Morning! It is great to be able to spend more time outside this time of year. Seeing all the growth in the gardens and greenhouse brings such joy! We have been in construction now since 1986 when we constructed our first Custom home. Time has flown by with many ups and downs in the economy. Many beautiful people have trusted us to build their New Home. Renovations, Gas Stations, Restaurant, Condo's, apartments, Fire Hall, poultry barns and even a custom sandbox have all been part of what D. Gartner Contracting Ltd has been trusted to build. We often talk about the wonderful people we have met and look with anticipation of those we are yet to meet. We have been a BC Registered builder since 1999 in good standing.
