A recent commission required me to once again dip back into the well of the John Wick universe and create a third version of a themed Warriors Axe Throwing Assassin hatchet.

I present the Blood Oath Assassin!

Fully inspired by the fabled Blood Oath Markers seen throughout the movies, the overall design borrows heavily from their ornate, old-world styling, while trying to capture the same gravitas that the Markers themselves hold.

Both faces feature hand-drawn botanical vines and fruit clusters built around other core elements of the Markers. The design also maintains the 3D depth map of the Continental Coin engraved above the handle, a feature common to all of the Wick-themed axes I've created.

The end result is a design that feels very different from my original Baba Yaga Assassin, while still belonging firmly in the same world.

Summer has been a little quieter around here, at least on social media!

With my boys on school break, I’ve been making the most of the summer with them. This means that time in the shop (and definitely time spent posting) has taken a bit of a back seat.

That doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy, though. There have still been plenty of projects making their way under the beams, so here’s a bit of a summer photo dump of some of the things I’ve been working on lately.

I’ve got a few new custom axes that I’ve been keeping under wraps, and I’m looking forward to finally sharing those soon.

For now, here’s a little look at what’s been keeping me busy this summer. ☀️

One of my favourite parts of what I do is being given personal items or references to use as inspiration when creating a custom axe.

That was exactly the case with this WATL Commander, commissioned by the members of the International Right of Way Association as a gift for their outgoing president, Koby Godwin. Judging by the thought and care that went into this project, we should all be so lucky to work with an organization like this!

The design process was a true team effort. I was secretly provided with two floral sketches drawn by Koby, along with ideas and suggestions from both his co-workers and his daughter. Incorporating those personal touches into the final design made this project especially rewarding.

The end result is a truly one-of-a-kind piece that looks just as good centred in a bullseye as it does displayed on the wall.

Thank you to everyone involved for trusting me with such a meaningful project.

Happy Friday friends!

I'm really late on this, but I am finally taking the moment to thank the so many of you who took the time to stop and chat with me at the IATC Homecoming Market.

From my perspective, the entire day had an amazing vibe, and it was refreshing to see so many new faces and first time attendees this year. I had incredible conversations and it has really reinvigorated my passion for making cool axes for cool people.

I'm still working hard to balance axe commissions with my growing 'local' engraving business, but I've moved through much of my outstanding work and if you've had a commission booked with me for a bit, you're likely to hear from me soon.

Finally, if you didn't happen to make it to IATC and see the trophies, let me tell you, you missed out because Goose really hit the mark pairing his handles on my heads. He should post them again. For now, please enjoy these photos and videos!

Thanks everyone!

I was able to get two more hatchets finished for tomorrow's market. I call these Flying Colours.

We have a Warriors Plumb and Reaper, both of which have been laser engraved and laser coloured. The colour is not a coating or chemical application. It is coming from the metal itself, so it won't peel, chip or flake.

These Flying Colours are made to throw!

I hope they you get the chance to see them tomorrow at the Homecoming Market, but I have a feeling that they won't hang around long...

You may have noticed that I haven't posted any teasers for the IATC Axe Market happening this weekend.

The truth is, I've been incredibly busy lately... but with my growing local engraving business. That's a good problem to have, but I've definitely missed the lead-up to IATC!

Now for the even better news: this week I wrapped up a number of IATC commissions and other projects (cough knife trophies cough), and finally found some time to create a few new pieces for the market.

Here's the first.

This is an updated version of the Baba Yaga Assassin that I originally created last year as part of a John Wick-inspired Premier, Clutch, and Big Axe trio. The single hatchet found a new home, and I've wanted to complete the set again ever since.

I'll have a few more pieces to share tomorrow.

See you Sunday!
