Imperial's Cold Lake operation is the longest running operation in NE Alberta. / Cold Lake est l’un des sites d’exploitation de sables pétrolifères les plus anciens du NE de l’Alberta et l’une des plus grandes installations thermiques in situ au monde. Imperial’s Cold Lake operation is the longest-running operation in northeastern Alberta and one of the largest thermal in-situ heavy oil operations in the world. Our Cold Lake operation produces, on average, about 160,000 barrels of bitumen a day (gross). Imperial is proposing to expand its Cold Lake operations (CLO) with an in-situ solvent-assisted steam-assisted gravity drainage (SA-SAGD) oil sands project named the Cold Lake Expansion Project. Cold Lake est l’un des sites d’exploitation de sables pétrolifères les plus anciens du nord-est de l’Alberta et l’une des plus grandes installations thermiques in situ au monde. These sightings help us better understand how wildlife species move through the areas around our sites.

We’re continuing our back-to-school celebrations by recognizing our second 2026 Indigenous Scholarship recipient! 🎓

Congratulations to Lexy Mackay, a recent graduate of École Notre Dame High School, who is beginning the Preprofessional Year of Nursing at the University of Saskatchewan this fall.

With aspirations to work in pediatric care, labour and delivery, or the NICU, Lexy is passionate about supporting children and families through meaningful, hands-on care.

That commitment to helping others is already evident in her community involvement, from supporting a younger student with reading and volunteering at local events to helping coach young volleyball players. Her dedication to service, leadership and giving back reflects the spirit of this scholarship.

We’re proud to support Lexy as she begins this next chapter and wish her all the best at the University of Saskatchewan.

Someone looks a little lost on the way to the teddy bear picnic!

This not-so-cuddly friend was spotted along the main road to Mahihkan, serving as a good reminder to stay alert, slow down and always give wildlife plenty of space.

What better way to kick off the university school year than by celebrating the first of our 2026 Indigenous Scholarship recipients! 🎓

Congratulations to Cash Seguin, a recent graduate of Assumption School, who is beginning a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Alberta this fall.

With a goal of becoming a physiotherapist, Cash has already shown a strong commitment to helping others and giving back to his community. From coaching local youth lacrosse and volunteering at school and community events to competing in multiple sports and teaching drum lessons to young musicians, Cash has made an impact both in and outside the classroom.

We’re proud to support Cash as he takes this next step and wish him all the best at the University of Alberta.

150 years of Treaty 6. A meaningful milestone and an important opportunity to come together, reflect and recognize its lasting significance.

Earlier this week, the Confederacy of Treaty Six First Nations hosted their 150th Commemoration in Edmonton, bringing together community members, leaders and guests to mark the occasion.

Imperial was honoured to support the celebration as a Silver Sponsor and participate in the Opening Ceremonies, with Fred, Daniel, Lesley and Julie attending on behalf of our Cold Lake operations.

Thank you to the Confederacy of Treaty Six First Nations for including us in this important commemoration.

From tiny seeds to big possibilities 🍒 ➡️ 🌳

Imperial and Cold Lake First Nations recently partnered for a day out in the field collecting pin cherries.

The seeds gathered are now headed to Smoky Lake Forest Nursery Ltd., where they’ll be processed, grown into seedlings and eventually put to work in reclamation projects.

This collaboration is another great example of how working together to incorporate local knowledge and long-term planning can help restore landscapes and support healthy, diverse ecosystems.

🎓 Meet the second recipient of Imperial Cold Lake's 2026 Billion Barrel Scholarship: Abdulqudoos, a graduate of St. Paul Regional High School S.P.E.R.D.

This fall, Abdulqudoos will begin a Bachelor of Science in Engineering at the University of Alberta, with plans to pursue hands-on experience through the university’s co-op program.

Passionate about STEM and problem solving, Abdulqudoos has taught himself several programming languages and explored coding, robotics, computer-aided design and artificial intelligence. He also earned a place at the Canada-Wide Science Fair, where he presented a project combining real-time transcription with augmented reality technology.

His long-term goal is to become a mechanical engineer and develop innovative technologies that improve safety, efficiency and productivity.

Congratulations, Abdulqudoos! We’re proud to support your next chapter and look forward to seeing what you accomplish. 👏
