Imperial’s Cold Lake operation is the longest-running operation in northeastern Alberta and one of the largest thermal in-situ heavy oil operations

in the world. Our Cold Lake operation produces, on average, about 160,000 barrels of bitumen a day (gross). Imperial is proposing to expand its Cold Lake operations (CLO) with an in-situ solvent-assisted steam-assisted gravity drainage (SA-SAGD) oil sands project named the Cold Lake Expansion Project. And that's a wrap on our high school tours for the year!

We were excited to welcome Frog Lake First Nations 121 & 122 students from Frog Lake Tus-Tuk-EE-SKAWS School to our operations, where they visited the Maskwa plant and D39 pad and were treated to a drone demo.

These tours are a great way for us to connect with our potential future workforce. For the students, it provides meaningful exposure to career pathways in our industry.

Thank you to all the students and teachers who visited this year, and to all our employees who helped with the tours! 🙌

Last week, our Cold Lake team had an amazing time at the Lakeland Regional Career Expo 2026, meeting students, sharing experiences and helping spark interest in the many exciting career paths available in our industry.

Safety takes preparation, partnership and practice. 🚒

Today, we welcomed seven members of the Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority to our site to test connections between their pumper truck and our hydrant system, helping confirm we can provide sufficient water flow in the event of a fire emergency.

This proactive testing goes above and beyond the annual inspections we already conduct and reflects the importance of working together to help keep our people, operations and communities safe.
