NARL Refining LP is an oil refinery located in the historic Placentia Bay of Newfoundland. We have been involved in the local community for more than 45 years and are a proud corporate citizen in that community. Communication has been the key in these relationships and the rewards have been long lasting. The refinery was built for the future and those innovations have been of great benefit. In the
early 1970s, when the refinery was founded, oil was plentiful and easy to recover, so installing clean fuel technology and one of North America’s largest refinery docks seemed unnecessary. However, as environmental stringency has continued to increase and ships have grown, NARL has been able to respond to these new demands with great reward. Since 2014 we have experienced a renewed commitment to excellence through our new ownership group and have increased our nameplate oil processing capacity from 115,000 to 130,000 barrels per day in 2016. We are investing in the environment, with emissions reductions of 21% since 2008 and emissions intensity reduced 25% over that time, and safety, with nearly 2 full years without a lost time injury, to ensure that our social license to operate continues to be awarded. The recent process improvements and the efforts of our health, safety, and environment teams are our focus as they will lead us into a prosperous future.
