Today, Polycrete Restorations joins the BM Group of Companies in observing the National Day of Mourning, along with a moment of silence at 11:00 a.m. across all our facilities and project sites.

WorkSafeBC reports that 138 workers in British Columbia lost their lives to workplace injury or illness last year. In our industry, these figures are a stark reminder of why rigorous safety standards are non-negotiable.

Every worker deserves to return home safely at the end of their shift. Today is about honouring those who have been injured or lost their lives on the job, and reinforcing the daily operational practices required to prevent future tragedies.

𝙉𝙤𝙩 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙩𝙚 𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙪𝙚𝙨 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙖𝙜𝙚—𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙣 𝙤𝙣 𝙙𝙖𝙮 𝙤𝙣𝙚.

During a post-construction inspection on a new build, deficiencies were identified in the overhead concrete soffits.

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚: poor consolidation due to rebar congestion, resulting in voids and honeycombing that compromised the intended structural performance. Polycrete was brought in to correct the work and restore confidence in the structure. Our team executed 𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙨𝙤𝙛𝙛𝙞𝙩 𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙖𝙞𝙧𝙨 using a form-and-pump methodology, a precise solution designed for overhead applications.

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨 included:
• Removal of all unsound concrete
• Cleaning and exposing reinforcing steel
• Installation of custom overhead formwork and pumping ports
• Placement of a high-flow, non-shrink repair concrete
• Finishing to match existing profiles and controlled curing to prevent shrinkage

𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙪𝙡𝙩: eliminated voids, restored integrity, and full compliance with design specifications.
This project is a strong reminder that even in , concrete depends on proper planning, constructability reviews, and mix design adjustments—especially in heavily reinforced zones.

We're proud to be part of the restoration of a Pedestrian Overpass in an iconic Park — a true Vancouver landmark, standing strong since 1925. This bridge has witnessed almost a century of stories, footsteps, and memories, connecting generations across our beautiful city.

Polycrete is performing a full structural restoration to give this historic pedestrian overpass another 100 years of service life. This involves careful removal and replacement of the concrete deck with high-performance concrete supplied by . Once the deck is reinstated, Polycrete may have the opportunity to install a specialized high-performance waterproofing/overlay system to provide the final aesthetics and further protection.

Heritage sites are more than just infrastructure — they are living pieces of our community's identity and culture. Taking care of them means honouring our past while ensuring safe, lasting spaces for future generations to enjoy.

We're excited to see this project completed by Q4 2025, continuing the legacy of a bridge that truly connects us all.
