We are proud to announce that Control Solutions, Ltd. has been acquired by Automated Logic – Canada, Ltd. (ALC) and is officially joining the Automated Logic and Carrier family.

CSL’s strong, client-focused approach to business and our long-time partnership with ALC makes this a natural fit. And we are proud to become ALC’s first company-owned field office in Western Canada.

While our name will change, our DNA will not. We will continue to operate from our Coquitlam office, with the same leadership, the same team and the same commitment to quality that’s always defined Control Solutions. What’s different is the opportunity now in front of us — to grow our capabilities, take on larger projects and expand the value we bring to the market.

We are excited to join the ALC and Carrier team and look forward to what the future holds!

This year, Control Solutions Ltd. celebrated our 30th Christmas. CSL was started by Ross MacDonald and Claude Nobauer back in 1994. It is now owned by Eddie McCool and Chad Thomas and has a wonderful team of 100 providing great service to our customers. Thanks to everyone for making CSL a fantastic place to work and for a very enjoyable Christmas party!

Here is a short write up on a current project by one of our Project Managers, Rob Stokes.

This (below) is Oakridge.. CSL’s largest project – ever..

Our part?
~18 acres of parkade (x 3 levels), truck tunnels and transit plaza, 2-7 levels of mall, food fair, offices etc., four residential towers, each up to 42 stories, and one office tower .

Equipment roster?
Try 1300+ fan coils, 1100+ condos, almost 600 parkade gas sensors, full energy metering (David even arranged install classes for the mechanical contractors so they’d get it right the 1st time) , thirteen storm water cisterns (where we drain the tanks ahead of predicted rainfall to be ready for the deluge, this is a 1st in Canada!), complete non-potable water distribution to cover irrigation, toilets and even washing machine! There’s nine commercial kitchens, controlled (by us) operable windows in the “living room” and all the supporting systems required to move hot water, chilled water and air...

On-site?
Two general contractors, four mechanical contractors, three electrical contractors, two independent 3rd party commissioning teams and an insane site-wide combined IP-based network “by others”, but with crazy amount of collaboration to get it designed, configured and installed. All this spread across eight CSL job numbers, a ridiculous number of site instructions and RFI’s and two on-site job shacks.

How we’re doing it?
Paul(install foreman) is getting ‘er done and is all over it with a super tight crew doing phenomenal work and supported by Norm (system designer), David (system designer) and Katherine (admin) in the office (soon also to include Vlad (Commissioning)) along with all the folks that in turn support them.. Ordering, receiving, shipping (thanks Sandro!(Logistics)) , coordinating, verifying, installing, documenting (and yes Eddie (owner) – billing!) – it’s a machine!

I could not work with a better bunch..

We had a fun packed day of slow-pitch baseball with the Control Solutions Team. Followed by some great BBQ cooking from Greg Pierce and Chad Thomas!
