One common thing we tend to see within the industrial and wall panel/pallet sphere is machine mounted tool performance not being where it should be. While this can be for many reasons, the most common, and most likely issue is not having enough air volume reaching the tools.

Here we have a client who has troubleshot their system. The large diameter (3/4" ID) air hose is replenishing volume equal to the demand required to cycle the tool at 2-4 nails per second. This was not always the case; they used to have an undersized air hose that forced them to run slower.

Notice that the air gauges only vary by about 6-7 PSI when in use. This is an ideal situation for keeping your tool cycling at peak performance. Any more variance in pressure would cause performance problems.

By keeping their tool well fed, they are able to keep their systems running smoothly without slowing the rest of the line down.

Moral of the story, don’t starve your tools of their lifeline. Weak volume makes for weak production.
