Shaping up on the inside of the Hornby Island Co-op, too!

Construction on the new Co-op began in early 2026. The project will continue through the winter, with a targeted move-in and opening date in spring 2027.

Following the first phase of construction, the grocery and hardware store will move into the main level of the new building, increasing overall efficiency for full and part time residents, as well as seasonal visitors. The existing store will then be demolished and the remaining exterior work completed is scheduled to begin, with the overall project expected to wrap up in the first half of 2027.

Interested parties can see the plans posted at the front of the existing store!

AFC Construction chooses people and projects that make a difference in our communities.

A bit of positivity on the job site goes a long way, and we want to make sure that everyone who sets foot on our sites feels safe, heard, and inspired to do good work with us and in the towns we work in!

It’s not hard to return a smile when we have folks flashing a grin your way 😀

If you need to get in touch with someone on-site during construction or after hours our contact details are always posted on the fencing surrounding the site!
