I just returned from the CHBA Net Zero Bootcamp, and I’m more motivated than ever to help transform how we upgrade existing homes.

Here’s the reality:
Most houses built between 1950 and 1990 were constructed before energy efficiency, air sealing, and insulation were properly understood or taken seriously. These homes leak heat, waste energy, and cost homeowners far more than they should to operate.

After upgrading my own 1975 bungalow into a Net Zero-ready home, I experienced the difference firsthand:

✅ More comfort
✅ Better air quality
✅ Lower energy demand
✅ Quieter, healthier living
✅ A home built for the future

It truly feels like a completely different house.

This experience has strengthened my belief that retrofitting existing homes is one of the biggest climate opportunities we have.
