Summer has flown by, and it is coming to the end of our summer internship program. ☀️

We’ve been fortunate to have Sebastien join our team as an apprentice carpenter through NSCC, working alongside our team over these last four months.

Introducing Akoma Lake Loon Homes 🏡

We’ve been building this project from the ground up alongside Akoma, right from ideation, listening to their vision for the community.

Akoma is a non-profit supporting economic, social, and housing opportunities for African Nova Scotian families, and their commitment to building communities is one we share. We’re proud to be the construction partner bringing these homes to life.

We’re in the home stretch for these two four-plexes that include two 3-bedroom and two 4-bedroom homes. Our Lunenburg team is working on the personalized touches, building custom bedroom wardrobes crafted with care to fit each family’s needs.

Construction is nearing completion and we can’t wait to share the final result! ⚒️

The equipment facility we built for Green Diamond Equipment in Membertou, Nova Scotia is a prime example; tilt-up concrete gave it the durability and long-term performance of daily equipment and industrial use.

We’ve called it home for 16 years, and over that time we’ve made our office into a space that feels like ours: a BBQ and deck for warmer days, a dog-friendly workplace for our four-legged coworkers, and a bright open layout with room to focus or connect.

Today DORA and Eastcut joined Build Nova Scotia and The Nova Scotia Provincial Housing Agency on-site in Lower Sackville, where construction is underway on a 22-unit modular apartment building.

This was a look into how builds come together from off-site manufacturing to on-site assembly, accelerating the construction process.

President and COO of DORA, Nathaniel Venedam addressed media on-site, joined by the Minister of Housing John White, who spoke to the province’s commitment to accelerating affordable housing.

Off-site manufacturing lets us hold that level of precision, while building the modules and preparing the site at the same time, so this structure went from foundation to fully assembled in less than five weeks.

Grateful to everyone who made today possible, and our teams behind this project.

Celebrating a huge milestone: 20 years of Nathaniel Venedam with DORA Construction! 👏

Nat joined DORA cleaning job sites while completing his carpentry training and has since worked his way up through Site Superintendent, Project Manager, and into his role today as President and COO of DORA Construction!

Along the way he’s helped deliver some real firsts: the largest mass timber building in Atlantic Canada, seven schools built in one summer through our first ever modular program, and partnerships with over a dozen non-profits strengthening communities across Nova Scotia.

None of this could happen without Nat’s expertise, work ethic, and teamwork over the years.

Congratulations, Nat! Thank you for 20 years of dedication and impact.

Happy International Beer Day!

We’re raising a glass to a project that gives downtown Sydney a new place to gather and grab a drink.

DORA is proud to have completed a full renovation of the McCurdy Building, a historic building dating back to 1961, transforming it into the Breton Crafthouse. Now bringing in new energy and giving locals and visitors a place to eat, drink, and socialize.

Natal Day is here! We’re celebrating the long weekend filled with parades, fireworks, and a great sense of community.

From an empty office building to new homes. 🏢➡️🏠

The Dunkeld started as an entirely new residential building with commercial spaces included, built with developer Somerled Properties and Eastcut's panelized systems. Now we’re back, turning part of those commercial spaces into more homes.

At 30 North Novie Drive in New Glasgow, we’ve converted roughly 7,125 square feet of vacant commercial space into residential units with no ground build required.

This is one of the ways we're helping put more roofs over more heads across the province. It’s not always about building new, but giving underused spaces a second chance.
