We’ve been busy lately with freeze-ups around HRM, and a lot of them come down to the same things 👇

• If a space feels cold, it’s cold enough to freeze
• Keep the heat on, even if you’re away
• Seal drafts around doors, windows, and rim joists
• Insulate exposed pipes, especially in basements, crawlspaces, and garages

A little prevention now can save a big mess later 💧💥

Frozen Pipes – A Common Winter Problem (Especially in Trailers) ❄️🚿

→ We’ve responded to a high volume of frozen pipe calls lately, especially in mobile homes and trailers where plumbing is more exposed to cold air
→ Proper pipe insulation and heat tape are critical to preventing freeze-ups during cold snaps

→ If your pipes are frozen, safe thawing options may include:
→ Space heaters placed nearby to warm the area gradually
→ Heat guns for controlled, direct heat on exposed piping
→ Propane heaters (such as a scorpion heater) used under trailers to speed up thawing

⚠️ Never leave an open flame or heater unattended, as this can create serious fire and safety risks

→ If your pipes are frozen, leaking, or you want your lines inspected, thawed, or properly insulated, give us a call before damage occurs

🔥 If your thermostat looks like this, it’s living on borrowed time. 🔥

Old mercury thermostats work by the movement of actual balls of mercury ⚠️. They’re inaccurate, slow to react, and once they fail or get damaged, you could have hazardous mercury in your home.

We’ve been ripping a lot of these out lately. They’re well past their prime and should be disposed of properly. not tossed in the trash 🚫🗑️.

Our recommendation: keep it simple 👍
A basic modern thermostat is reliable and accurate. Unless you’re planning on running a Nest or Google Home system, programmable thermostats are usually more trouble than they’re worth — more parts, more failures ❌.
