We are looking for a millwright mechanic.

Responsibilities
Replace defective parts of the machine or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts.
Align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
Connect power unit to machines or steam piping to equipment, and test unit to evaluate its mechanical operation.
Repair and lubricate machines and equipment.
Assemble and install equipment, using hand tools and power tools
Move machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
Operate lathe to grind, file, and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications.
Set the knife gap and test run the grinder and shredder for proper cutting
Follow plant lock-out procedures during repair or servicing
Report anything that is unsafe or hazardous to maintenance and Plant Manager immediately

Required Skills
High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience
Journey level millwright certification
Forklift experience

JOB DESCRIPTION
Van Wasteco Inc. is currently seeking individuals with a strong work ethic, and good problem-solving skills to join our Extruder Operator team. For the right candidate, this is a career opportunity with room for growth and advancement.

Hours: The position is a 12hr rotating day/night shift (7:00 AM to 7:00 PM for the first two weeks, followed by 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM for the other two weeks in a month.

Compensation: $22.50/hr starting hourly rate. Range $22.50 to 25 /hour

Vacation pay: 4% of total wages or 2 weeks paid at regular wage, whichever is greater

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities shall include:

Performs daily production activities on plastic extrusion lines
Ensure all lines are running without quality concerns at the beginning and throughout your shift
Operator extrusion, downtime tracking and running sheets are completed.
Provide help and support to other team members when needed and as able.
Make all colour and gloss checks on time and scrap out of spec product when necessary
Make all quality checks as required. Finished products must match all quality standards assigned
Maintain maximum regrind use and line speed standards
Assist in line changeovers including die removal and replacement
Maintain housekeeping of your lines and workstation.

EXPECTATIONS
You are:
Able to work a 12hr/day/night rotating shift
Work at various site locations
Positive attitude, and takes pride in their work
Detail-oriented, and organized

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
High school graduate
Minimum 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing/industrial environment
Ability to follow instructions and work independently

Industrial First Aid Level 1
Forklift experience or certificate
Language: English

Check screen above and by using portable vacuuming, clean and replace it
Open all the drains, lift with a metal bar or screwdriver, and inspect inside. If there are any pellets or contamination found, use a fish net to scoop up and dispose of the garbage bags and notify the supervisor on site
Bring supervisor’s attention immediately if seen contamination continually in drains
Replace drain bags if found ripped or worn out
Check all small drains on the roof
Replace socket bags if needed or found worn or ripped by seagulls
Follow the provided checklist and mark downtime, date and sign off
Clean and sweep employees’ lunchroom, locker room and changing room
Sanitize tables, sitting chairs etc.
Clean surrounding near new Erema and Entek line by using a broom, alongside at employee entrance door
Outside the Silo storage area, ground, and concrete screen a daily inspection and clean-up need to be done.
Clean yard.
Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience
Read, write, and speak English
Forklift experience or License is an asset
Manufacturing, warehouse or production experience is an asset

• Vacuum dust and cobwebs from corners of working areas
