Remembering an Important Part of Canadian History

Brenco Industries Ltd. is honoured to have supported the Hastings Park Memorial, unveiled at the PNE to honour the thousands of Japanese Canadians who were forcibly removed from their homes, detained at Hastings Park, and relocated during the Second World War. The memorial's steel pillars bear the names of those impacted, creating a lasting place for remembrance, reflection, and education.

The story of Brenco Industries Ltd. began with a young immigrant's dream.

At 18 years old, Vanessa Heim's grandfather arrived in Canada aboard a Liberty ship with a suitcase and a few dollars in his pocket. He worked as a logger in Gold Creek before building a life in Vancouver and establishing himself in the metal industry.

During the 1983 recession, he and his son, Steve Heim , saw opportunity where others saw challenges. Together, they acquired equipment from struggling companies and founded what would become Brenco Industries.

Today, Vanessa Heim proudly carries that legacy forward, building on the same values that started it all: hard work, resilience, integrity, and entrepreneurship.

From one man's courage to three generations of family leadership, the Brenco story continues.
