Morgan Fuels is excited to extend our supply partnership with Equinox Gold - Musselwhite Mine and Big Beaver House bringing meaningful benefit back to our First Nation partnership communities.
A significant new propane supply agreement has been announced between Equinox Gold’s Musselwhite Mine, Big Beaver House (BBH), and Morgan Fuels. This agreement will support a reliable fuel supply for Musselwhite Mine while delivering economic benefits to local First Nation communities.
Big Beaver House is a partnership comprised of two signatory communities, Kingfisher Lake First Nation and Wunnumin Lake First Nation, supporting the Musselwhite mining project.
The agreement follows a competitive procurement process that attracted several Indigenous joint venture proposals. The selected partnership was chosen based on reliability, value, and the benefits it will deliver to local communities.
Through this new partnership, Morgan Fuels will extend the same propane pricing structure and supplier margin provided to Musselwhite Mine to the site’s five partner First Nation communities: North Caribou Lake First Nation, Cat Lake First Nation, Wunnumin Lake First Nation, Kingfisher Lake First Nation, and Mishkeegogamang First Nation.
“This agreement reflects our commitment to balancing operational excellence with meaningful partnerships that create lasting value for Indigenous communities,” said Chris McMahon, General Manager, Musselwhite Mine.
“The partnership between Big Beaver House, Equinox Gold and Morgan Fuels aligns with our core beliefs in meaningful First Nations Partnerships as a First Nation owned company servicing Northwestern Ontario since 1935.” said Al Howie, Chief Operating Officer, Morgan Fuels LP.
Maintaining strong partnerships with the Indigenous communities, governments, and businesses where Musselwhite Mine operates is fundamental to the mine’s continued success. Musselwhite Mine remains committed to creating positive change by supporting the economic and social well-being of its host communities.
