One thing I learned after owning a construction and trucking company for 23 years is that a building is only as good as how it works for your business.

When I walk an industrial property today, I'm not just looking at square footage.

I'm looking at truck access, yard layout, future expansion, employee flow, and how the property will support the business years down the road.

It's one of the reasons I enjoy working in industrial commercial real estate. Every property tells a different story, and no two businesses use space the same way.

That's the stuff I enjoy talking about.

One thing I've learned over the years is that some of the best opportunities in business don't start with a sales pitch, they start with a conversation.

I had a great meeting this week that reminded me how valuable it is to keep building relationships and learning from people with different experiences.

Over the years, one thing I’ve learned through business is that strong relationships compound over time.

After owning and operating a construction/trucking company for more than 20 years, many of the best opportunities came through conversations, trust, and long-term relationships — often years after first meeting someone.

That same mindset is what I’ve carried into commercial real estate.
Commercial real estate, especially industrial, is still very much a relationship business.

I’ve appreciated reconnecting with people throughout Edmonton’s business community and continuing to build new relationships along the way.
