We would like to recognize Kyle Bourke, Labour Relations Coordinator, as part of our PEER Award program, reflecting our value that results matter.

Kyle played a key role in leading the development of Mikisew Group’s Cultural Service Award program, helping reframe our service awards to better reflect our identity as an Indigenous organization.

From the beginning, he took ownership of this initiative, developing a proposal and catalogue that outlined the cultural components of the program while working directly with Indigenous artisans to ensure authenticity and meaning.

Working closely with the Business Development team, Kyle helped bring this initiative to life. His attention to detail and commitment to collaboration have been instrumental in advancing this important cultural program.

We are excited to share that Amanda Waquan has stepped into the role of Leading our AutoCAD Technician Pilot Program.

“I joined through the Talent Pool in a surprising way. I didn’t get the first job I applied for, but Mikisew Group saw my potential right away and created a role that matched my strengths. Recognizing my AutoCAD experience from my previous employer, we saw a shared opportunity to establish an AutoCAD division within Mikisew Group. That opportunity changed my career, and now I’m helping build something even bigger, a pathway for Mikisew Cree First Nation members in Fort Chipewyan and anywhere else to work from home and build technical skills without having to leave their community. Not everyone has the option to relocate for work or training, so creating remote opportunities like AutoCAD Drafting jobs means more of our Members can build strong careers right where they live. To anyone thinking about trying something new like AutoCAD, I’d say give yourself a chance. Today, we turn 35!

Thirty-five years ago, Mikisew Cree First Nation made a decision to build something lasting.

Founded in 1991, Mikisew Group has grown from its early beginnings into a group of companies with more than 16 businesses and over 500 employees.

From those early foundations, Mikisew Group has expanded its work across the Alberta oil sands and beyond, building partnerships, capacity, and opportunity along the way.

Today, we recognize Moose Hide Campaign Day and thank the partners across our group of companies who participated in this important campaign.

The Moose Hide Campaign began as a BC-born, Indigenous-led grassroots movement focused on ending violence toward women and children.

Since then, it has grown into a nationwide movement that brings people, communities, and organizations together in a shared commitment to take action against gender-based and domestic violence.

Grounded in Indigenous ceremony and traditional ways of learning and healing, the moose hide pin represents a commitment to honour, respect, and protect the women and children in our lives, and to speak out against violence.

We are grateful to the partners across our group who helped recognize this day and stand behind its message.

The Mikisew Group 7th Annual Charity Golf Tournament is already 90% sold out.

Taking place on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at the Fort McMurray Golf Club, this annual event brings together industry leaders, community members, and partners for a day of golf, connection and giving back.

With a 27-hole Texas scramble format and over 200 golfers expected, it’s a full day built around community and impact.

All proceeds support Elders programs and educational opportunities for youth within Mikisew Cree First Nation. By participating, you are helping preserve cultural knowledge, empower future generations, and strengthen the community.
