We interviewed Duggan King, our current RAP student to find out why he chose this program and a career in the trades!

RSW: Why did you apply for the RAP program?
Duggan: I have trades on both sides of my family, I always knew that I wanted to go into the trades. [The RAP program] is a great opportunity to get credits and make money.

RSW: How did you get connected with Rozen Steelworks?
D: I heard about Rozen from my dad. He's a heavy duty mechanic, used to be an ironworker, and he said it would be a great place to start and learn.

RSW: What do you like about the RAP program so far?
D: I like all the learning and opportunities.

RSW: What is a positive experience you've had so far?
D: The people. Learning from everyone at Rozen has been a great experience.

RSW: What is some advice for other teens thinking about joining the RAP program?
D: Just apply! Learn, and make money.

At Rozen, we believe in the Skills Canada Alberta mission: to equip young minds with skills they need to lead our province forward.

This year, we’re proud to partner with Selections Career Support Services as our Training & Technology partner. Selections has a focus on exploring skilled trades with youth, and together we’re using their innovative Virtual Reality training tools to give students hands-on experience with the world of pipefitting and fabrication.
