"I like to refer to myself not as a carpenter, but as a craftsman. A carpenter builds things where a craftsman creates a work of art. My work of art is taking the time to get into places where everyone else leaves."

That's Michael, founder of Clean Air Solutions, in his own words.

After thirty years of cleaning Edmonton homes, watching neighbourhoods evolve, kids grow up, and families put down roots, his approach to this work hasn't changed.

He still sees a home, not a job site. A family depending on the air moving through those walls, not just a duct system to get through before the next address.

We wrote about what that actually looks like, up close, in our latest post. It's a good one.

A lot of the families we serve have been with us for ten, fifteen, even twenty years. Some of them started calling us when their kids were small, and now those same kids are buying homes of their own across Edmonton and calling us for their first cleaning.

That kind of trust doesn't come from an ad. It comes from a neighbour telling a neighbour. A family recommending us to a friend who just moved into their first house. A parent passing along the number to a kid who doesn't know yet who to call.

If Clean Air Solutions has ever made a difference in your home, and you know someone who might be due for a cleaning, we'd genuinely appreciate you passing our name along. It's the best compliment we know how to receive.

It’s the first real warm day of the year and you know how it goes...

You open your window first thing in the morning but by noon you’re reaching for the thermostat.

You switch it to AC for the first time.
The fan kicks on.
Cool air rolls through the house.
You smile with relief.

And then you smell it. That faintly musty, slightly dusty odour that silently fills your home. You might even feel a tickle in your throat that you brush off.

You’re not imagining it.

Something real is happening inside your AC system after 8 months sitting idle and it's worth knowing what that something actually is.

We wrote about it in our latest post. If you've ever wondered why that first blast of summer AC feels different from the rest of the season, this one's for you.

"We don't have pets or allergies, so we probably don't need it."

"We had it done once — we're good."

"I'd know if our air quality was bad."

After more than 30 years cleaning Edmonton homes, we've heard every version of these. And we get it — they're reasonable assumptions. They're also not quite accurate.

Our latest blog post walks through five of the most common misconceptions about indoor air quality, with the actual facts behind each one. No pressure, no alarm — just honest information that helps you make a better decision for your home.

Myth: "My house doesn't smell, so my air must be fine."

We hear this one a lot, and we get it. If nothing seems wrong, why fix it?
Here's the reality: most indoor air quality issues are completely odourless. Dust mite debris. Pet dander. Mould spores. Even certain VOCs from building materials. None of them announce themselves with a smell. They just quietly circulate.

The air in your home can be carrying a significant allergen load without any noticeable scent. In fact, many of our clients are genuinely surprised by what we find, not because anything was obviously wrong, but because nothing ever is until you look.

A clean home is a great start. Clean ducts are what keep the air behind the walls just as clean as the surfaces you can see.

Twenty years is a long time to trust someone with your home.

This is what 30+ years of doing things the right way looks like.

One of the myths we hear most often from new Edmonton homeowners: "Our home is brand new, so the air must be better."

We understand the logic. But newer homes, built to modern energy-efficiency standards, are exceptionally well-sealed. That's great for your heating bills. It also means that whatever is in the air stays in the air much longer than it would in an older, draftier home.

New construction also brings its own set of air quality challenges: construction dust, drywall particles, and fresh materials off-gassing into a sealed space. That combination can circulate through your ductwork long after move-in day.

New homes don't get a free pass on duct cleaning. Often, they need it more in the first year or two than homes that have been lived in for a decade.

If you've recently moved in and haven't given your air system a thought, we'd love to chat. (780) 484-7203

Edmonton's trees and grasses are doing what they do every May: producing pollen that travels indoors on shoes, clothing, and pets.

Here's the thing: pollen doesn't land in a vacuum. If your home's ventilation system is already carrying the accumulated residue of a long heating season, those incoming outdoor allergens are landing on top of an existing load. The two combine into something your immune system has to work considerably harder to manage.

Getting your system cleaned now — before the height of pollen season — means your home's air is working with you, not against you.

It's one of the most practical things you can do for allergy season, and spring is the ideal time to get it done.

Here's something we hear all the time: "We change our filter every month, so our ducts must be clean."

It makes sense on the surface. But here's the distinction worth knowing.
Your furnace filter is designed to catch particles before they reach your HVAC system's internal components. It protects the equipment. It does not clean the inside of your ductwork, and it can't reach the dust, debris, and buildup that accumulates along duct walls over months and years.

Think of it like rinsing the screen on your kitchen window. It keeps bigger things from getting through, but it doesn't clean the walls and vents throughout your home.

Regular filter changes are a great habit. They're just not the same thing as a professional cleaning.
