William Hawrelak Park has reopened, welcoming the community back to one of Edmonton’s most valued gathering spaces.

Our team is proud to have supported upgrades across the site, focusing on the utility, transportation, open spaces, and facility infrastructure within the park. These improvements modernized park amenities, preserved historic resources, improved accessibility and enhanced connections to the River Valley, ensuring the park continues to serve as a vibrant gathering place for generations to come.

With the park already back in use, we look forward to celebrating alongside the City of Edmonton - Local Government at the Grand Reopening Event on May 30th.

Daniel Alamina recently completed a full student term with our Edmonton team as a Project Coordinator, and his reflection on the experience stuck with us.

When asked what surprised him most about working in construction, Daniel said, "I didn't expect how much of the role would revolve around communication rather than technical work. So much of what moves a project forward comes down to making sure the right information gets to the right people at the right time."

His advice to future students? Take ownership of every task, follow through to close the loop, and ask questions early.

That willingness to support and bring new people into the work is part of what makes our teams strong. We're glad Daniel was part of ours.

The project at SAIT's Senator Burns Building has been successfully completed, modernizing the Nuclear Medicine Technology lab to support new state-of-the-art SPECT/CT cameras.

The work included the safe removal and decommissioning of existing systems, selective demolition, minor architectural upgrades, and coordination of electrical and mechanical tie‑ins to support the installation. Managing both removal and installation ensured a smooth transition.

This upgrade enhances the functionality of the space and supports SAIT’s ongoing commitment to advanced learning and training environments.

Our Ontario team transformed a vacant base-building space into an advanced testing facility for Mérieux NutriSciences - North America.

This complex laboratory renovation included a full interior buildout of specialized lab environments, walk‑in fridges and freezers, a temperature‑controlled warm room, and a commercial‑grade kitchen designed for food preparation and sample testing.

Through detailed coordination and problem‑solving, our team supported project delivery for an international client, completing the work on schedule. The result is a specialized facility that supports Mérieux NutriSciences’ testing operations and reflects the strength of the collaboration behind the project.

Western Built Magazine recently featured our Frog Lake First Nation Water Treatment Project, highlighting the Indigenous engagement strategy that guided the work from day one.

As Tim Laronde, National Director Indigenous Strategies shares, “From the earliest stages of pre‑construction, Chandos worked closely with Frog Lake First Nation leadership, administration, and community members to align project delivery with the Nation’s economic development goals.”

At its core, the project delivered something fundamental: clean water, guided by a delivery approach shaped by the community it serves.

Our Edmonton team recently spent time volunteering with Edmonton's Food Bank, helping pack food hampers for people across the city.

Working through each order felt like grocery shopping with purpose. Every box reflected someone’s needs, from specific dietary requests like gluten‑free or diabetes‑friendly options, to everyday essentials and toiletries. The goal was simple: fill each hamper with care and prepare it for pickup.

It was a hands‑on reminder of how community support comes together, one box at a time. Grateful to play a small part in helping meet a very real need.

As we wrap up , we are reminded that safety is deeply personal.

Across our teams, our people have written down the names of who they work safe for. A partner. A child. A parent. A friend. Each name is a quiet reminder of why getting home safely matters.

These names ground our commitment to safety and remind us why it must come first, always. Who do you work safely for? Comment below 👇
