Meet Carolina Quiroz Juarez, Project Manager here at Grengine!
If you could pick any superpower, what would it be and why?
Bringing internal peace to all human beings. I think that current environmental, economical, and social crisis are based on the lack of internal peace of humans. By living mindful lives, we humans might be able to deeply care for other beings and solve many conflicts that pull each other to the hedge of existence.
How would your best friend describe you in three words?
I think: tenacious, goal oriented, being present whenever needed.
What’s something that you’ve always wanted to try or learn?
Diving sounds challenging and rewarding as it is the opportunity to explore unusual environments for humans. I'll make the time in my life to try it!
Who are some of your biggest influences?
My grandmother and women in my mother's side family. My grandmother is for me the best example of love for work, resilience, wisdom, empathy and care for other human beings. In a world in which other human beings are perceived as the otherness, coming back to my roots as human let me to land in reality and cultivate appreciation for other beings, which I think is essential to work in the clean energy industry.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love practicing yoga, reading books that let me discover new worlds and hanging out with friends and family. My beloved ones are at the core of my being, so spending quality time with them brings me joy and sense of belonging.
Why did you choose to work at Grengine?
Since I met Connie and her enthusiasm to promote the development of the renewables industry with alternative lenses. Grengine goals to foster Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are not different when compared to other companies, but what makes it unique is how. Company's deep engagement on promoting sustainable and inclusive development inspires me every day because real problems are where social, ethnical and economical inclusiveness play a big role.
What do you love most about the work culture and the people you work with?
The great variety of opinions and the respect each other reflects to carefully listening different opinions. I strongly believe that communication is the basis of any strong relationship, and companies are not an exception. Also crucial for me is being part of a team that shows a huge sense of engagement and tenacity because small companies face great challenges in its growth pathway.
How does Grengine foster a supportive and collaborative work environment?
I strongly believe that culture in an organization permeates top down and Grengine's leadership team members are the perfect example. All of them act in congruence in their own lives, which is reflected at work when making decisions. Grengine promotes a flexible, caring and inclusive work culture understanding that staff are humans and then employees. This brings out the best each Grengineer can give.
Are there any personal values that you feel strongly align with Grengine’s values? If so, could you share a specific example?
I feel that I share all Grengine's values however, what best describes me is tenacious. Tenacious is a present value in my life since ever, as it is something I learnt at home from my parents. A quick example may be my current active presence in the electric sector since I finished my BSc. Developing a career in a highly male dominated sector requires not forgetting the goal and the impact I want to make for the sake of society on top of difficult situations arose from the interaction with male experts.
What do you believe sets Grengine apart in the clean energy sector?
Ethics and inclusiveness while looking for projects with a real impact in local communities. Clean energy is needed where small and remote communities are located not necessarily where access to the power grid is guaranteed.
How do you see Grengine making a significant impact in the clean energy industry in the coming years?
Contributing to shift the mindset of people involved in the renewables industry from the inspiration of turning on a reality what is perceived as impossible.
