Today we celebrate 40 years in business. My dad Giovanni Greco started building furniture at the age of 10 in Reggio Calabria. In 1967-68 my dad came to Edmonton to live with his uncle Carmelo to make a better life for himself. He started working when get got here at Qualico homes which he told me he got board cause it was all pre fab homes. He then got a job with his former boss John vetch who taught my dad how build houses, commercial buildings and do additions from the foundation up. In that time he got married to my mom and had three kids. His former boss retired and today in 1983 my dad opened up his own company G Greco Contracting Ltd which he wanted to name it G Greco Construction Ltd but the name was already taken in Calgary. The following month I was born, I started at a young age helping my dad. Moving lumber, building small stuff but I was always with my dad. Was working with my dad easy no, was there a lot of yelling of course lol, but I toughed it out and learned a lot about construction from my dad and just learning on my own. You could say me and my dad were a married couple by how we talked to each other. Unfortunately I lost my dad July 5th 2020 to cancer. I decided to take over the company and with my hard work and support by all you guys I will try and keep this company going as long as I can. 🥂🍾 here’s to 40 years in business and hopefully many more years to come.
