Master Pools Alta Ltd is currently hiring 3rd and 4th-year plumbing apprentices and Journeypersons for projects throughout Alberta and BC. These involve the construction of large-diameter PVC piping systems, and associated filtration, heating, and chemical treatment equipment.
Previous aquatics-specific experience is not necessary. The successful candidate will possess PVC plumbing experience, and demonstrate excellent mechanical room layout ability and work quality, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic. Ability to work and travel as part of a crew, and act professionally in a commercial job-site setting, is also necessary. An interest in pool tank construction is considered an asset.

We offer a salary is $26.00-$34.00 / hour to start based on experience and qualifications, as well as Health benefits, overtime, and performance bonus. Master Pools Alta Ltd (MPA) specializes in the design and construction of commercial and municipal aquatic facilities. Working throughout Western Canada, we partner with bid-spec and design-build Contractors, and Construction Managers build the largest swimming pool structures and mechanical systems.

A safe work environment is of the utmost importance to Master Pools Alta. We are seeking to hire an external construction safety consultant to assist with safety policy creation and administration for our company. Working with Construction & Project Managers and company field staff on a part-time basis, the consultant will guide the refinement and implementation of the company’s Employee Health and Safety Plan.

Responsibilities would include:

• Maintaining and update compan safety documentation and employee training certifications.

• Having a thorough understanding of OH+S legislation/interpretation in various jurisdictions as required and for commercial construction projects specifically.

• Assist Project Managers and field
staff with identifying safety hazards, and in completing SWP/SJP for all aspects of construction operations, in conjunction with project general contractors and site forepersons. Display credibility to project general contractors.

• Conducting audits and implement requirements of COR certification

• Provide safety orientation to new hires and MPA subcontractors as required.

• Assist with HSC committee administration

• Act as the main contact in case of workplace injuries and conduct injury investigations. Liase with WCB and Labour Board regarding worker injuries and return-to-work procedures.

• Being enthusiastic about safety practices, and in promoting compliance with company internal and external OH+S record keeping requirements, and upkeep of personnel and equipment safety certifications.

• Conduct regular site inspections to ensure field employee adherence to safety plan requirements, and create quarterly reports on company safety performance.

Given that this is a part-time position, a combination of remote-work, work at MPA offices, and site visits would be involved and required for this position. The hours of work are expected to be 10-20 hours per week on a consistent basis.

The successful candidate will have:

• Experience with safety administration in commercial construction environments

• Experience with accident investigations

• NCSO certification

• COR auditor training or strong familiarity with COR processes and requirements.

• Experience with Drug and Alcohol Policy creation and implementation.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to research and interpret safety legislation, and synthesize procedures therefrom.

• Strong familiarity with MS office applications; familiarity with app-based safety administration programs is considered an asset.

• The ability to build and maintain a rapport with site personnel with a positive and constructive attitude.

• The resources and internal planning necessary to maintain continuity of service on a part-time basis, in coordination with other clients that the Consultant may have.
