Just recently, on August 18, 2025, steel/aluminum tariffs were expanded to include a wide range of finished products containing steel or aluminum
—things like knives, HVAC systems, electrical transformers, machinery, aluminum wire, finished machined goods, castings, and forgings.
***HS Codes for all products are now subject to an additional 50% tariff on steel and aluminum, determined by the content of these materials of all items entering the USA from Asia.
Since the 50% rate applies to the steel and aluminum content, the final tariff rate is expected to be around 20–25%,
If you are currently importing goods from the USA that were originally imported into the USA from ASIAN markets, you will be facing an increase of costs from 20-30%. Not to mention any tariff increases that Canada may impose on USA items.
