Over the past few weeks, official groundbreaking ceremonies have taken place for both the Calgary and Fort McMurray CASA Houses, marking an important milestone in expanding access to youth mental health services across Alberta. These purpose-built facilities will provide specialized, trauma-informed care for children and youth, helping ensure families can access the support they need closer to home.

Once operational, the Calgary and Fort McMurray CASA Houses will be part of a network of four facilities across the province, providing treatment, therapy, life skills development, family programming, and educational support for young Albertans facing complex mental health challenges. Together, the four CASA Houses are expected to support more than 300 youth annually, creating lasting impacts for families and communities throughout Alberta.

Double Star Drilling is honoured to work with our Partner Clark Builders on these incredible projects and to contribute to infrastructure that will make a meaningful difference in the lives of Alberta families for generations to come. Being involved in projects that strengthen communities and support the health and well-being of future generations is something we take great pride in, and we look forward to seeing both facilities come to life in the years ahead.

This is a field-based role supporting foundation and piling projects, including out-of-town work—so flexibility and a willingness to travel are essential. You’ll be responsible for operating drill rigs, working alongside a skilled crew, and helping ensure every project is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.

Doublestar Drilling is proud to recognize Joe Wolfe for his commitment to building and leading a positive safety culture every day.

Joe consistently goes above and beyond by completing monthly evaluations for new employees and ensuring that FLHAs are reviewed, coached, and signed. He actively reviews and revises JHAs, on a weekly basis, carefully identifying tasks, hazards, and required controls as conditions change.

Joe also leads daily tailgate meetings to ensure the crew clearly understands the day’s tasks, hazards, and controls, while ensuring that employee training and competency requirements are completed in a timely manner. Most importantly, Joe genuinely cares about his crew. His leadership is demonstrated through clear communication, hands-on involvement, and a strong belief that safety is about people, not just paperwork.

Michael Halcrow, a Doublestar Drilling Operator turned Supervisor, was a natural choice for our Employee Spotlight. Known for his attention to detail and relatability to other on our team, Mike is someone we can always rely on to deliver, even on the most complex jobs.

Beyond his technical skill, Mike is genuinely one of those people everyone enjoys working with. He's often the first point of contact for new team members entering the field, and his patience, clarity, and steady leadership make him an exceptional mentor for up-and-coming drillers. Reliable, driven, and a legendary cook, Mike brings an incredible amount of value to every Doublestar site he’s on. Today, we proudly recognize him for everything he contributes to our team.
