Kichton Construction is growing, and we're looking for experienced Utility Operators (Excavator, Dozer & Grader) and Wiggle Wagon Operators to join our team for work at our oil sands site north of Fort McMurray. If you're looking for steady work with competitive wages and the opportunity to be part of a skilled team, we'd love to hear from you! Our current scope of work includes tailings pond crest repairs, dewatering support, road and ramp construction, and pipeline corridor construction.

What we offer:
✔ Day shift – 12-hour shifts
✔ Bussing provided from Fort McMurray
✔ Non-camp position (must be local or have accommodations in Fort McMurray)
✔ Competitive wages of $29–$48/hour (based on experience)
✔ Overtime after 8 hours/day or 40 hours/week
✔ 9.6% vacation and statutory holiday pay on all regular hours
✔ Comprehensive benefits after 90 days

Last week, we had the opportunity to visit Action for Healthy Communities in Edmonton and speak with a group of job seekers about the Kichton Group of Companies, our industry, and the work we do across Alberta.

Beyond sharing information about our company, we focused on providing practical advice to help participants navigate the Canadian job market. Many of the attendees are new to Canada and are still learning about the hiring process, workplace expectations, and what employers look for when reviewing applications and conducting interviews. It was a great discussion, and we were grateful for the opportunity to share our experiences and help support individuals as they take the next steps in their career journeys.

Thank you to Action for Healthy Communities for inviting us to be part of such a meaningful session. We look forward to continuing to support workforce development and helping connect people with opportunities in our industry.

Earlier this week, we had some special visitors stop by Kichton Construction’s Acheson office! Our Water Wiggle Operator, Marcel, brought his two little boys in for a tour, and they were excited to see what Dad does every day. From exploring the shop to climbing into the big iron, these two “future operators” were all smiles during their visit.

Moments like these remind us that construction is about more than just the work we do — it’s about family, pride, and inspiring the next generation. We loved having Marcel and his boys visit and can’t wait to see if we’ll be welcoming them back as part of the crew one day! 👷‍♂️🚜💙

Kichton Construction was honoured to attend the Pathways to Opportunity Career Fair this week in Janvier, AB, with our HR Manager Leanne Randall and HR Specialist Megan Williams representing our team. This impactful event, held in partnership with Chipewyan Prairie First Nation (CPFN) and Chard Métis Nation (CMN), brought together community members, organizations, and employers to connect, share knowledge, and explore meaningful career pathways. From engaging with attendees to learning more about local priorities, it was a valuable experience rooted in respect and relationship-building.

The event featured a range of activities including opportunities to meet employers, explore training and education options, and a Youth Career Passport with prizes that encouraged young people to get involved. With door prizes, refreshments, and a strong lineup of participants including the Athabasca Tribal Council (ATC) and CEDA International, the day was both welcoming and inspiring. A special thank you to Willis Janvier (Dene Yati) for serving as Emcee and guest speaker. Kichton Construction is proud to support Indigenous communities and remains committed to creating opportunities through partnership, inclusion, and long-term collaboration.

Last week, the Kichton Construction team had the pleasure of attending the career fair at Leduc Composite High School, and what an incredible experience it was! We were truly impressed by the amazing turnout and the enthusiasm from so many students eager to learn more about the construction industry.

It was a great opportunity for us to connect, share what we do, and highlight the many rewarding career paths available in the skilled trades. We had some fantastic conversations and were inspired by the curiosity, drive, and potential we saw throughout the day.

A big thank you to the staff and organizers for having us, and to all the students who stopped by to chat. The future is in good hands, and we’re excited to see where these young individuals go next!
