How much more thrust do you get by increasing propeller diameter?

Actuator disc theory and blade element theory both predict that larger propellers will produce more thrust, but they don't agree on exactly how much!

The team at Premier Aerodynamics put these theories to the test using our Series 1585 thrust stand.

How do propeller geometry and surface characteristics influence ice accretion and UAV performance?

We are proud to see researchers using our equipment in their published studies.

Among the latest examples is from the Anti-icing Materials International Laboratory (AMIL) at UQAC, where our thrust stand was used inside the AMIL Icing Wind Tunnel to evaluate ice accretion and its impacts on thrust and power consumption.

For decades, engineers have relied on Pitot tubes, hot wire anemometers and multi-hole probes to test airflow around vehicles, buildings and aircrafts.

Each tool introduced a new way to approach aerodynamic testing, but they all shared the same limitation: airflow could only be measured one point at a time.

In this video, we show how our WindProbe 3D combines pressure sensing, angular flow measurement and real-time spatial tracking to visualize airflow directly in 3D space.
