The team at Allan Avis Architects Inc. have the privilege of developing, renovating and restoring some of the most significant public and heritage properties in Southwestern Ontario. The firm was established in 1993 and has a core of 7 full-time employees plus co-op students. We offer a friendly, team atmosphere, centred on interactive learning and encourage participation at all levels and phases of project work.
Our firm requires additional staff to supplement and complement our current design and production team. Successful candidates will be experienced, energetic, disciplined; a self-motivated team player who possesses a strong work ethic. You must be very proficient with REVIT and have the required skills and experience to be take on assigned projects.
Qualifications
▸ Office experience:
Intern Architect position: 2+ years office experience
Intermediate Architectural Technologist position: 5+ years office experience
Junior Architectural Technologist position: 3+ years office experience
▸ Fluency in the English language is essential for both written and verbal communications
▸ Ability to multi-task and work on several projects at any one time
▸ Ability to direct and shepherd projects from conception to completion
▸ Possess a genuine interest in renovation and restoration of existing buildings
▸ Must be agile and be able to work in enclosed spaces and from heights on scaffolding to explore attic and basement spaces, and exterior façades - training will be provided if required
▸ Must have a valid drivers licence; owned automobile an asset
▸ Have advanced knowledge and extensive experience in use of Revit
▸ Must be proficient in use of AutoCAD, Adobe and MS Excel
▸ Must be proficient in use of WordPerfect (our office standard) or, alternatively MS Word
▸ Experience with other graphic software such as Sketch-Up, PhotoShop and WordPress is an asset
▸ Knowledge of Ontario Building Code General Duties & Responsibilities
Staff positions involve all phases of a project, from initial client meetings and concept designs, through construction documents, approvals, bidding and contract administration.
Must be able to work independently, as well as a team member, and be able to perform the following:
▸ Computer Drafting using Revit for design, presentation and construction documents for a variety of projects ranging from custom residential to medium sized institutional renovations, restorations and new construction
▸ Assist in field dimensioning and production of measured drawings of existing buildings
▸ Prepare presentation drawings and rendered 3-D Revit models
▸ Assist with design and produce thorough and comprehensive technical drawings for permit, bidding and construction
▸ Research products and systems during selection process
▸ Assist with technical specifications
▸ Prepare cost estimates
▸ Liaise with and coordinate subconsultants
▸ Liaise with authorities
▸ Assist with contract administration and general review site visits
