Oil and gas will always be a big part of what we do, but Weld FX is building for more than one industry.

Over the last couple of years, we have been investing in new equipment, technology, certifications, and in-house capabilities so we can take on a wider range of work. That now includes projects connected to equipment repair, commercial fabrication, education and community partnerships, along with the industrial work we know well.

We are not changing who we are. We are taking the same practical, problem-solving approach that built Weld FX and applying it to more types of projects.

More capability. More variety. More opportunities to build some pretty interesting things right here in Grande Prairie.

Who likes saving money? 💰

Replacing your Waukesha air cleaner boxes with upgraded units can cost close to $10,000, and the new boxes may also require a new front to connect with your existing intake piping.

In some cases, there is another option.

At Weld FX, we stock upgraded hinge sets that can be used to modify your existing air cleaner boxes rather than replacing the complete housing.

We can remove the existing hinge setup and install the upgraded set, helping you update the current boxes at a fraction of the cost of full replacement.

The filter housings pictured here were upgraded during turnaround work, and we currently have hinge sets in stock and ready to go.

If your air cleaner boxes need attention, it may be worth looking at whether an upgrade makes more sense than replacement.

When emissions-related upgrades are being planned, having the right fabrication partner can make it easier to turn the concept into something that works in the field.

At Weld FX, we support these projects by fabricating the components, skids, mounts, and related pieces needed to help integrate new systems into existing facilities.

That includes solar power skids and mounts for solar-powered chemical pump systems, which can be especially useful for remote locations where operators are looking for alternatives to natural gas-powered chemical pumps.

Our role is on the fabrication side of the project. We work with the requirements of the application and build the custom components needed to support the upgrade.

Access platforms, stairs, and walkways may not be the first things people notice on an industrial site, but they play an important role in how people reach, inspect, and work around equipment.

Weld FX regularly fabricates structural steel and aluminum access platforms, stairs, walkways, and safety structures for industrial applications.

When these components are part of a custom fabrication project, they need to fit the equipment, the space, and the way people will actually use them.

For maintenance teams, millwrights, mechanics, and operators, better access can make routine inspection and service work more practical. It can also help create a safer way to move around equipment and reach the areas that need attention.

That is why we do not see these pieces as background fabrication.

They are part of the overall function of the site and part of how the people working there interact with the equipment every day.

Winter has a way of reminding you very quickly which jobs should have been handled before the temperature dropped.

For industrial facilities around Grande Prairie, fall is the time to look at the work that becomes harder, slower, or more urgent once the cold really settles in.

That can include checking supports and clamps around vibrating equipment, looking at access platforms, stairs, walkways, and guarding, reviewing intake and exhaust components, planning heat trace or heat coil work, and identifying fabrication or retrofit work that can be completed in the shop before installation.

It is also a good time to look at equipment modifications, replacement components, mounting points, brackets, and other custom-fabricated pieces that may be easier to address before winter conditions complicate the job.

At Weld FX, we support that work with in-house fabrication capabilities and field service for installation and repairs.

A little preparation now can make winter maintenance a lot easier to manage later.

Meet Mandy Stuart, our Controller & Admin Manager at Weld FX.

When there are projects moving, phones ringing, paperwork piling up, and a dozen different things happening at once, Mandy is one of the people helping keep everything organized behind the scenes.

She supports the administrative side of the business, helps keep the day-to-day details on track, and somehow manages to keep all the moving pieces moving in the right direction.

While a lot of what we share is about what happens in the shop or out in the field, the work behind the scenes matters just as much.

Every team needs someone who knows what is going on, where things are, and what needs attention next. Around here, that’s usually Mandy.

What makes working at Weld FX different?

If you operate a compressor facility, you know that vibration can travel well beyond the component where it first becomes noticeable.

At Weld FX, we look at where movement is being transferred and what needs to be supported, secured, or relocated to help address the problem.

Depending on the application, that can include relocating vessel sight glasses so excess vibration is not transferred directly into the assembly, replacing inadequate pipe clamps with heavier-duty supports, and building compressor cylinder supports that help take strain off the compressor frame and piping.

We also fabricate and install compressor discharge bottle supports and wedge systems where additional support is needed. When vibration is being transferred through the building structure, we can also address movement by bracing pilings, improving shimming, and securing the structure where required.

When piping, compressor components, pilings, or surrounding structures move more than they should, that movement can contribute to repeated failures and ongoing repair work.

Our role is to identify where better support is needed and fabricate the clamps, brackets, supports, and structural solutions required for the application.
