November 8th,2024 - Honouring Our Indigenous Veterans

Today, as we observe Indigenous Veterans Day in Canada, we at RAW Group pause to pay tribute to the profound contributions of our Indigenous veterans. These courageous individuals have served our nation with honor, defending our collective freedoms while proudly representing their Indigenous heritage.

Why We Honour Them:
Bravery and Service: Indigenous peoples have a long history of military service, from the First Nations who fought alongside the British in early conflicts to the Inuit, Métis, and First Nations who have served in every major conflict Canada has been involved in. Their courage has been exemplary.

Cultural Guardians: Beyond their military duties, these veterans often return to their communities as leaders, educators, and protectors of cultural heritage, influencing societal and community development.

Resilience: They face unique challenges upon returning home, yet they continue to show resilience, contributing significantly to reconciliation efforts and the well-being of their nations.

Reflecting on Truth and Reconciliation - Two Years Later

Years prior, we at RAW Group took a moment to acknowledge the importance of Truth and Reconciliation Day. Today, as we revisit those sentiments, we recognize that the journey towards understanding and healing is ongoing.

September 30, 2024 marks another year of reflection on the impacts of the residential school system in Canada. As we repost our message from last year, we're reminded that:

Awareness is just the beginning: Educating ourselves and others about the history and legacy of residential schools remains crucial. Let's continue to learn and share.
Action is necessary: Wearing an orange shirt today symbolizes our commitment, but let's also engage in actions year-round that support Indigenous communities.
Reconciliation is a process: We honour the survivors and those who did not return home by actively participating in reconciliation. This means listening, understanding, and advocating for change.

On September 30th, we recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation🧡. It's a time to acknowledge the tragic history and legacy of residential schools and to take action in support of reconciliation. We encouraged everyone to learn about the rich and diverse cultures, voices, experiences and stories of the First Nations, Inuit, and Metis People that we here at RAW Group strive to embody daily.

The RAW Group offices will be closed, Friday September 29th, to allow staff to commemorate this national holiday.
