Congratulations to our Water Resources and Fire Protection teams on receiving the 2026 CBCL Innovation Excellence Award for a Wildland Fire Prediction Assessment.

This project involved wildfire modelling and risk assessment across twelve sites in Nova Scotia, combining climate analysis, infrastructure risk evaluation, and practical mitigation strategies. It represents a first-of-its-kind regional wildfire modelling pilot and reflects the strength of collaboration across our teams. A great example of innovation, collaboration, and real-world impact. Congratulations to all involved!

CBCL team members recently volunteered at Integrity’s Haven Equine Rescue Centre Society (IHERC), with participants from engineering, environmental science, coastal, electrical, and transportation and planning.

The team helped with farm chores and grooming, while gaining a deeper appreciation for the essential care provided to rescued animals at a sanctuary. As IHERC continues to face challenges related to funding consistency, even small acts of support, whether through volunteering, donations, or simply spreading the word, can make a meaningful difference.
