Shaping our neighbourhoods by helping transform development ideas into tomorrow's reality

09/07/2026

Celebrating the people who bring their knowledge, dedication, and hard work to the projects and communities around us every day.
Wishing our team, clients, partners, and industry colleagues a safe and relaxing Labour Day.

Not every project requires the same level of accuracy.
A heritage restoration has very different requirements than a warehouse expansion or a conceptual design.
Choosing the appropriate level of accuracy helps balance project requirements, schedule, and budget.
✅ Ask us: "What level of accuracy is appropriate for our project?"

The buildings of tomorrow begin with the data we capture today. Our team is looking forward to joining industry leaders at the @2026 East Coast Industry Summit in Halifax this August. If you're attending the Summit, we'd love to connect.

Reality Capture doesn't end when the field work is finished. That's when the real value begins.
One accurate dataset can continue supporting projects long after construction is complete: from renovations and maintenance to future expansions.
Good data keeps working.

Many building projects don't require every square inch to be scanned at the highest level of detail. A good reality capture partner should help define exactly what data is needed based on your project goals, timeline, and budget.

At SDMM, we work with clients to determine the right scope before the project begins, helping maximize value while controlling costs.

Ask us: "What level of scanning does my project actually require?"

The most expensive sentence in construction? "We assumed the as-builts were accurate.”

It sounds harmless, until construction starts.
Then the surprises begin:
➡ A beam isn't where the drawings say it is.
➡ Mechanical systems have been rerouted.
➡ Dimensions don't match reality.
The result? Change orders. Delays. Rework. Budget overruns.
In construction, assumptions can be expensive. If you're planning a project and want to reduce risk from day one, reality capture can support your next build. Start accurate - stay accurate.
