Commercial horticultural grow lights for greenhouses and indoor farms. The Lighting Knowledge Company since 1981. P.L. We supply, plan and support the lighting.

Light Systems designs and manufactures commercial horticultural grow lights for greenhouses, indoor farms and controlled environment agriculture. Established in 1981, we supply growers across North, Central and South America. The range covers LED and hybrid greenhouse lighting for vegetables, floriculture, cannabis, propagation and vertical farming, including one-for-one HPS to LED retrofits. Projects start with a light plan, a layout modelled against your growing area showing fixture placement, light levels and energy figures before you commit. Installation is handled by your contractor. Our Knowledge Center carries free technical articles on spectrum, DLI and lighting strategy.

🍂 Today marks the Fall Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere — the exact halfway point between daylight and darkness.

From here, every day loses a little more daylight. For greenhouse growers, that's not just a seasonal shift — it's the moment your crop's light budget starts running a deficit.

45 years in horticulture lighting has taught P.L. Light Systems one thing: growers who plan their supplemental lighting strategy before the light gap widens stay ahead of it. Those who wait are playing catch-up by November!

As natural drops, the question isn't if you need to adjust — it's how precisely you can close the gap without wasting energy or compromising crop quality.

That's where data-driven supplemental lighting decisions matter most.

☀️ What's your top lighting strategy for the season ahead?

You may have seen the news: Hortilux Schréder has filed for bankruptcy. We want to make sure our customers and friends know — P.L. Light Systems is a separate company, independently owned since 2020, and this news does not affect us.

Yes, our branding shares a resemblance — we started out in 1981, and from 1992 onwards as Hortilux Schréder's North American division. But since Dec 1st, 2020 we’ve been separate from them and independently owned since 2020, and today we're proud to be partnered with Dutch Lighting Innovations as we keep leading the way in horticultural lighting.

Thank you for your continued support. We're here, we're stable, and we're not going anywhere. 🌱

Jardiniers du Chef recently shared these wonderful photos of their new installation. Switching from their existing 1000W HPS system to a more efficient 750W LED installation allowed for a seamless 1:1 swap into their existing control system and structure without interrupting 30 years of organic food production. This retrofit also freed up electrical capacity of their facility that allows for more efficient year round production.

"Under your LED lights, the plants flower faster and the flowers are larger, which is more profitable since we sell by weight."
General Manager @ Jardiniers du Chef
