(Lyndon Barnet) Lyndon was a multi-decorated welder as he moved up
the ranks of the 'Skilled Trade of Welding' - just starting out as a "Tin-Knocker"
His love and passion started and quickly took of, as he learned how to use
WW2-Era equipment that would, shape, bend, stretch and contour light-gauge
pieces of metal, for customers with "on
e-off/custom" projects or drawings. After working under the wings of two of his largest mentors, Mark & Vic
Affleck; Affleck Sheet Metal - [he] then found himself wanting to dive into this
incredibly demanding and highly skilled trade. After learning basic, to intermediate
skills with the Affleck crew for a few years, it was off to St.Clair College where
Lyndon would plunge deep into the theory and the analysis of advanced "Metallurgy." During the couple of years he spent studying the scientific side of different types of
steels, metals - learning about what these materials are made up of and how they react to different processes - while expanding and refining the quality of his welding. After completing all courses, he graduated with honours, finishing in the Top 2 of 110+ enrolled. He took his then new found repertoire of knowledge with his widely expanded and immensely sharpened welding abilities, to a much larger and vastly different shop. Thus putting his "levelled-up" experience, to the ultimate test - Structural steel welding "multi-pass" welds. Some massive projects weighed 20-70 tonnes. Always having miles of welding wire to be pounded into the steel. Almost everything was something he had never seen or done before; then - just as [he] was feeling confident in his major transition - from a shop that worked with steel, that was never ANY thicker than 1/8'' and with a crew of 4 - Lyndon was now welding structures for buildings that were being shipped all over the world. (New York, Mexico, Texas, etc;)
The biggest confidence boost, which actually led [him] to finally getting settled down in this whole new world, came from these "old-timer, iron-workers" that would sometimes stop in the shop for tools, or sometimes even work along side him. On several different occasions these men, that had literally been around the world, with the welding and iron trade for over 30 + years, soon noticed the quality of welds, that a "young Lyndon" was putting down. After consistently laying down welds that were looking like a veteran welder had done them, it was quickly showing the veterans, co-workers and upper management, that he was "playing above his weight class." It did not take long for that young man, (we now call our Boss) to be one of the best welders on the floor. This also, in a shop where [he] was the youngest by 31 years. It was during this time, Lyndon soon noticed, that he may have a god-given talent. Fast-Forward almost 10 years, Lyndon has travelled for Welding Competitions, bringing home 1st place for Canadian Competition and 2nd for the Nationals. During the last 10 years, he has acquired over 8 separate C.W.B Welding Certifications, 6 different shop training, crane, forklift, rigging, propane handling, sky-jack, commercial driving certification, machinery qualifications, completed several First-Aid and Electrical De-Fib courses. It was in 2015 that he was feeling that he was
"in-a-rut" and he did NOT know what to do with his life for a career - having that awful feeling in his mind and heart, he knew that he had more to offer; for the world, for himself and for his family. It was then he made the decision to complete his Level 1 & 2 C.W.B Weld Inspector Certification. At this time he was just wanting to make a change and thought that this was going to be that change for him. He thought to himself after applying for those specific titles, he still wanted to BE more, DO more and ACHIEVE more.. He thought to himself more; he has seen, heard and experienced the bad, the good, and the ugly of running a business just through working under another employer and was constantly thinking of products, designs all while hand drawing them after working all day. He had enough, of the normal 8AM-4:30PM - just putting your time in and clocking out. Lyndon has always been a total "gear-head" and even till this day, that has not - "nor will ever change." Lyndon was going to dive-head first in entrepreneurship - registering to attain his Official Ontario Business License in late 2016. After a couple thousand dollars in legal documents needed to even START a business, [he] soon realized the nightmare of not having enough capital to sustain the business after opening would be the sole reason of why he could not make his wishes come true. After days of reconciling of HOW to get more capital, hes in Mothers garage where he was converting this single bay, dark, wet and cold container into his first ever shop. To make a long story, slightly shorter - here we are almost (what seemed to be an incredibly long 5 years) and Barnet Custom Fabrication Inc. and its products are all over Southern Ontario, and consistently spreading out even more. Lyndon Barnet in his 4th year of being an entrepreneur has won a handful of some very outstanding awards, just this past year through the Largest Business Magazine in Michigan, Windsor and Essex County. The business of the Month in the very first Edition of 2020, as well as Best-Selling-Water Product in 2020, Most Innovative Design for the environment and is in the TOP 10 Entrepreneurs in the biggest class of "30 Under 30" and is continuing to rise up the ranks. Lyndon and his projects completed by BCF INC; have been pictured several times in CBC News Broadcasts and customer interviews, Windsor Star write-ups as well as Online and social media posts. This year of 2020 sure has been a complete mess for a lot of the worlds population, but after the years of hard work, small wins, accomplishments and even all of the scattered losses, mistakes, failures and frustrations, Lyndon had a phenomenal year for the business, breaking revenue records just 7 months into the year, the first stage of the patent process being approved, purchasing 2 large new pieces of equipment and machinery that he never would have thought he could attain this early into owning a business; not to forgot all of the free advertising through papers, magazines and online parties but, last-but-not least, we had received the news in the Spring that E.R.C.A had approved Lyndon's custom design for our best selling deflection plates. This is considered to be one of, if not, the greatest accomplishment for the business as this will multiply the amount of customer orders exponentially for years to come. This means we have the most important company, backing the product [he] had made from nothing, is just the opportunity of a lifetime and is an absolutely mind-blowing success for all of us involved here at B.C.F Inc;
After the constant ups and downs of owning your own business, with the owner having to wear all of the "hats" of the corporation, Lyndon has showed a lot to the residents of his hometown of Harrow, Ontario, as well as his customers and anyone else that has doubted the hopes, and dreams of somebody else. With each season that passes, B.C.F will continue to grow, continue to get more efficient and effective with all of our methods, processes and each and everyone one of our other business practices. We continue to strive for nothing but fair and professional customer service, top notch craftsmanship as well as, an all around unbeatable business experience with each and everyone of our staff members, no matter who the customer deals with.
