ok , sorry for the rant , but it's time to say this. To qualify , I have been self employed since 1994 , so , been around for a while and have seen , well pretty much everything in my career. That being said , for the most part , most of my clients have been fantastic , but , .... I got a call the other day ( most of us trades do) , to come a look at a job. Mostly , if not on another job, we do , and then we run into THIS! Scenario" We show up , look the job over , give opinion , and then! the " I have a buddy that can do it cheaper" thing. Not to be long winded , but here's the funny part , when the buddy that can do it cheaper, shows up and want's to buy material and supplies off me , but also askes my opinion on how to do the job! I ,
( and a lot of other trades) face this a lot. Look , we took time from a paying job to talk to you , but when you pull this kind of stuff and wonder why we no longer will do it for free , ask yourself , would you? A lot of trades now charge a minimum fee for consult , I can't blame them. I haven't done it yet , but , ....
