; Here is an ICF home we built for a client in 1995.
Here are some things our client had to say - “I have long been interested in energy-efficient buildings. For the past 20 years, I have read about and researched solar heating, super insulation, R200 buildings and so on. When we were starting to plan our new house, we investigated a number of innovative building technologies. One that particulary attracted our attention was the ICF wall system, and in turn, we were referred to Gerald de Roeper.
The ICF system fulfilled a number of our criteria – super-insulation levels, theral mass, structural integrity, no thermal bridging, low noise transmission, reasonable price.
Gerald was extremely helpful in the building process. His crew was efficient and conscientious about both quality and site cleanliness.
The resulting house is by far the most comfortable we have ever lived in. It is quiet (too much so, according to Cindy), has absolutely no drafts, is warm in winter and cool in summer, even without mechanical air conditioning, and costs a reasonable amount in utilities. We chose an in-floor hydronic heating system which is a perfect match to the thermal mass and airtightness of the Blue Maxx wall system.
In short, we would recommend ICF construction as one of the best building systems available. Perhaps the highest praise is this: if we were to build another house, we would use ICF construction again.”
