This past weekend marked the 1st major tournament on our new Fluent Disc Sport Borealis championship disc golf baskets and it couldn't have gone better!

We received countless compliments on how well they were catching, and how bright and vibrant the colour was. Really telling was the 10 aces over the weekend we were aware of, including 8 tournament aces! Congratulations to the 3 people who bought into the ace pot... and to the rest, you'll know better the next time you're playing on the Borealis! 😉

If you're considering purchasing or upgrading your baskets, consider the Borealis from Fluent Disc Sport Inc., a Canadian🇨🇦 company, and keep more of your money in Canada where we can continue to invest it back into the sport!

Two weeks, two huge wins for Fluent's Bryce Farley!!

After last weeks decisive win at the Muskoka Open, Bryce was up in South River, Ontario, competing in MA2 again at the 23rd running of the Black Fly Fling this past May 2-4 weekend. It's one of the provinces longest running tournaments and a long weekend fan favourite on the tour!

Bryce finished round 1 tied for first with one of our favourite card mates Chris Bunce, only scoring a single bogie through the round. After lunch Bryce stepped on the gas and opened up a whopping 8 stroke lead, an excellent way to finish the day! On Sunday morning, things started off slower, but Bryce maintained his 8 stroke lead carding a -5 for the round, including the only tournament eagle on hole 17!

Going into the final round Bryce wasn't feeling great, he managed to get sun-stroke during the lunch break in the hot sun. He wanted to thank all everyone for their help getting through that rough spot, and send a special thanks to Jody Slade and Mindy Myall for the salty snacks, water, and juice boxes, they made a huge difference! Thank you! It took a good dozen holes of play before Bryce started feeling better, letting his lead fall back to 3 strokes at one point, but he was determined to push through. Over the last 9 holes he carded 5 birdies and finished the round 7 strokes ahead with a 4-round total of -20!

To all his card mates over the 4 rounds, Chris, Ricky, Andrew, Jesse, Justin, Bradley, Angus, Mike, it was a blast, always a positive vibe going and just plain fun for the whole weekend. Cheers guys!

And a final big thanks to the South Riviera crew, the and especially Jay de Jager, and Jody Slade, and all the other volunteers for putting on a perfect weekend! WE'RE IN SOUTH RIVER!!! ❤🇨🇦

Way to go to Fluent's own Bryce Farley for taking down MA2 by a whopping 4 strokes at the 2026 Muskoka Open. With a field of 22 players in MA2, Bryce played 49 points above his rating, maxing out with a 957 rated first round.

He showed true grit battling through an ankle injury (big thanks to card mate Tanner Sleep for taping it near the end of round 1)! He came back from 2nd to tie for 1st 3-ways in round 2, and then turned it on in round 3 to open up to a 6 strokes lead at one point. He held on to finish 4 strokes up to defend his Muskoka Open title for the 3rd year in a row, and secure his spot in the 2026 Ontario Provincial Disc Golf Championships!

Congratulations to Gabriel Dixon, Chris Bunce, and Alasdair Robertson for securing your spots as well, it was great playing with all of you! See you all in Kemptville in September!

Lastly, big thanks to Wolf Tracks Disc Golf and Limberlost Forest and Wildlife Reserve for hosting, and all the hard work that went into prepping the courses!

In this photo, we’re looking at a long vertical frost crack on a hybrid maple, an old trunk injury that has reopened over time as the tree responds to repeated freeze-thaw cycles. These cracks are often found on the south-facing side of the tree, where winter sun can warm the bark during the day before temperatures drop quickly again at night. The raised, smooth edges are woundwood, showing that the tree has been trying to close over the injury for years, but the split remains a sign of stress and potential weakness within the trunk.

When we selectively harvest trees during disc golf course construction, this is the kind of specimen we look at first. Rather than removing strong, healthy trees with long-term value, we prioritize trees that already show structural issues, declining health, or a higher likelihood of future failure. That approach helps us protect the healthiest parts of the forest, improve long-term stand quality, and create fair, enjoyable playing corridors while working with the land as responsibly as possible.

Thanks Blake and the Riverview Crew for the tour around RHS Tricky Trail. It was great to get a round in, hear about how the course came about, and the support you're getting from the school (seriously!). I love any chance I get to throw with the locals and talk shop, some great questions tonight! Sorry if I was talking during your throws, you get me started on a question and I'm just a motormouth! Thanks again guys!

Pictures just don't do this course justice, Fredericton Disc Golf is really in for a treat! The 2nd cut is almost complete, and that means it's almost time to start installing baskets and pads. Good thing we just delivered 37 new Borealis Championship baskets in orange and green, and 9 rolls of Solum Turf! Fluent is in town flagging and staking for the final build stage. Stop in and say hi if you see the truck in the park!

This ash shows severe Emerald Ash Borer damage. Under the peeling bark, the winding galleries reveal where larvae fed beneath the surface and disrupted the tree’s ability to move water and nutrients. At this stage, the tree is in serious decline and becomes a clear safety concern, especially in an active recreation space where dead or brittle stems can fail without much warning.

In a forest setting, removing heavily infested ash can do more than address immediate hazard concerns. Selective thinning of a hard-hit species can help reduce pressure on the remaining stand, focus attention on healthier trees, and make it easier to identify and respond to new infestations before they advance too far. In some cases, catching ash while damage is still in the larval stage may help protect nearby trees and slow the loss of the species across the site. It is another example of why responsible tree selection during disc golf course construction is about more than clearing space, it is about supporting the long-term health and resilience of the forest.

We are super excited to welcome Barrie McAndrews to the Fluent family!

Barrie brings a solid track record in sales, business and channel development to the team, which will be a huge asset as we continue to expand our product and service offerings across Canada, and in general. Not only has Barrie helped continue the strong tradition of disc golf in South River as President of the Algonquin Disc Golf Club, but he's spent years in the tourism and business support industries with organizations like the CFIB as a District Manager, Scotia Bank as a Small Business Advisor, and Resorts Ontario and RTO12, building relationships with the very businesses and operators that can benefit most from disc golf!

If you, or a business you know, are in the market for anything disc golf related, such as Fluent's Borealis championship basket, Solum Turf, our wide array of custom signage options, or our course design and assessment services, Barrie would love to speak with you!

Welcome to the team Barrie, we couldn't be more happy to have you on board!
