Objective Engineering Inc. is an entrepreneurial engineering firm that works on unique structural engineering projects in industrial, manufacturing and construction with specializations in fall protection, steel connections, structural design & build, mobile cranes and construction equipment, FEA and CADD services. Centrally located, we service customers throughout South Western Ontario and the Toronto area.
We are currently looking for a Structural Engineer who will design and oversee the implementation of engineering projects by conceptualizing and developing solutions based on project requirements and company standards. The Structural Engineer will need to focus on client satisfaction in respect to the design and ex*****on of their projects while acting as a technical liaison. Within the Company, the Structural Engineer will develop, train and educate junior engineers, guide technical direction and develop a deep understanding of the company services, goals and strategies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Attend client meetings and communicate with client to ensure that the scope of work and schedule are clear.
• Prepare project plans that meet milestone and delivery dates promised to the client.
• Formulate solutions with detailed calculations, drawings, diagrams, project specifications and budget estimates and read and interpret shop drawings, fabrication drawings and structural drawings.
• Complete structural inspections of buildings, construction reviews and prepare reports.
• Utilize computer software for the preparation of technical specifications, drawings, user documentation, presentations, progress and results tracking.
• Perform final review of all project deliverables to ensure that the final product is 1) what was requested by the client, 2) will meet their needs and 3) is free of known errors and omissions.
• Lead project meetings and listen to feedback from your team.
• Track, structure, and schedule project progress against budget and scope.
• Report to management and client on a regular basis.
• Provide feedback to management regarding employee and company performance.
• Recommend new processes to improve quality, cost or on-time delivery of projects.
• Assist in preparation of and review of client invoices.
• Exercise sound engineering practices & principles.
REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
• B.Sc. in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Registered P. Eng. with Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO).
• Minimum 4 years of experience in the area of structural engineering.
• Experience with preparing CADD drawings in AutoCAD; SolidWorks and FEA experience preferred.
• In depth knowledge of the OBC, Ontario Construction and Industrial Regulations.
• Effective leadership skills.
• Outstanding communication skills in English
• Proven ability of organization
• Valid Ontario G Driver's license with own vehicle
• Knowledge of worksite safety.
• Knowledge of construction and fabrication methods.
• Willingness to have a flexible schedule to meet client needs.
