🔥 Before modern drills and crushers existed, miners used one of the oldest techniques known to break quartz and expose hidden minerals.

The ancient method of fire-setting played an important role in early gold mining and prospecting. In this video, we're taking a look at how our ancestors worked the rock long before modern equipment changed the industry.

Back in the shop, and it feels great.

After taking some time to get
everything set up again, I finally started cutting into this 92-pound jade stone. To be honest, I expected it to be decent, but once I got it under the light, I was completely surprised.

The colour, translucency, and quality are much better than I originally thought. Moments like this are one of the reasons I love working with stone—you never truly know what's hidden inside until you make that first cut.

This is just the beginning of processing this beautiful piece, and I can't wait to see what the rest of it reveals.

Cranbrook Rock Show 2026 at the History Centre

What a great weekend surrounded by rocks, minerals, fossils, and amazing people. It was wonderful meeting new faces, connecting with fellow rockhounds, and sharing stories about our passion for the outdoors and the treasures hidden in the mountains.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello. Events like these remind me how strong and welcoming the rock and mineral community really is.

🏔️ New Ground, New Discoveries, and Big Plans for Summer! 🌲⛏️

It's been an incredibly busy couple of weeks here at TE Prospecting.

As you can see from the photos, I've been spending countless hours exploring the mountains, hiking remote areas, scouting new locations, and searching for places with huge potential for the upcoming summer season.

The work never stops. Every trail, creek, hillside, and hidden valley holds the possibility of a discovery. Some days are long, some days are challenging, but the adventure and excitement of finding new ground make every step worth it.

What you're seeing here is more than just exploration—it's part of building something special for the TE Prospecting community. My goal is to continue sharing new locations, outdoor adventures, prospecting opportunities, rock and mineral discoveries, and the incredible beauty that nature has to offer.

This summer is shaping up to be one of the most exciting seasons yet, and I can't wait to bring everyone along for the journey.
