Deep Trekker

Deep Trekker Deep Trekker is one of the largest underwater robotics manufacturers in the world. Inspect the depths up to 410 feet (125 M). Learn more at www.deeptrekker.com

Effortlessly survey the depths with our rugged underwater drones, built to withstand the toughest of missions. The Deep Trekker DTG2 is a fully portable (no topside power required) affordable way to explore and inspect the depths without ever getting wet. With a patented pitching system for an unprecedented maneuverability, the Deep Trekker ROVs come complete with sophisticated sensors and add-ons similarly to traditional ROVs but in an affordable and easy to use package.

Building a clean 3D model from underwater footage comes down to the quality of the capture. No amount of post-processing recovers a blurred frame or a gap in coverage.

SPECTRA was engineered around that idea from the start: the factory calibrated stereo 4K camera resolves metric scale from a known baseline, so measurements come out of the reconstruction without scale bars, targets, or reference objects in frame. Seven thrusters hold station in current, keeping frame-to-frame overlap consistent and images sharp enough for reliable feature matching. A 300,000 lumen array tracks the camera head, so illumination stays even across the dataset no matter where the pilot points.

Add real time 3D Sonar SLAM into the mix and pilots can confirm full coverage before ever leaving the site, turning a single inspection into photorealistic, measurable data.

Our guide breaks down the full workflow from planning the route to processing the final model.

Deep Trekker is at ExpoAgua.cl! Today is our last day at Stand C26 in Plaza de la Cultura, running until 1pm, and we'd love for you to stop by.

We're showcasing solutions built to reduce operational risk and maximize results for water tank inspections and pipe assessment, including the DTG3 and PHOTON, along with the Pipe Trekker A-200 crawler, purpose built for utilities and industrial teams working in confined and hard to access spaces.

Our team is on-site to talk through your inspection challenges: Christian Marcos, Elizabeth Vásquez, and Vicente Valenzuela.

See you soon!

Last call, Vegas. 🎰

Today's the final day to catch Carter Sinclair and Tristan Walker at Booth 1405 for Tri-State Seminar. If you've been meaning to stop by and see Deep Trekker and Pipe Trekker's sewer inspection crawlers, this is it.

Come see the crawlers up close, ask about your toughest pipe inspection challenges, and check out some underwater footage before we pack it in.

07/30/2026

We're heading to Vegas, but our focus is on inspection tech, not the casino floor. 🎰

Carter Sinclair and Tristan Walker will be at Booth 1405 for the Tri-State Seminar, August 3-6, showing off Deep Trekker and Pipe Trekker's latest sewer inspection crawlers.

If you're in the water/wastewater world and heading to the show, swing by. We'd love to talk shop and show you some cool underwater footage.

Inspecting a Hydro Dam with SPECTRA | Sonar SLAM & 3D Measurement

See the SPECTRA ROV inspect a working hydroelectric dam — from the trash racks to the dam wall — capturing the close-up footage and 3D data operators rely on to locate cracks, spalling, and other defects before they become a problem.

Knowing exactly where deterioration is located — ahead of a planned shutdown — helps operators target repairs precisely and maximize the throughput of dams and locks once the water is off.

Shark Week, ROV edition. 🦈

Before exploring Cabo San Lucas' submarine canyon, underwater photographer Samantha Schwann and Cabo Shark Dive had to test whether sharks would tolerate a vehicle in their water: or treat its 3mm tether like an easy target. Over a seamount aggregation of roughly 80 sharks, they lined up to deliver investigative bumps to the DTG3, lost interest, and moved on. The ROV came back in one piece, and the pilots came back with a green light.

From there, the ROVs did the heavy lifting. The DTG3 handled early canyon exploration, and the team later upgraded to the REVOLUTION to push against strong currents outside the canyon entrance, operating between 200 and 300 metres at night through the largest migration on the planet. Across 30+ field days and 200+ locations, the vehicles documented a canyon that serves as a migratory checkpoint for mako, blue, silky, and hammerhead sharks: all without a diver leaving the surface for the deepest work.

Deep Trekker's PIVOT ROV was deployed in Antarctica to support subsea research during a 24-day expedition across the Southern Ocean, operated by a four-member Submersible Science Team working from zodiac platforms.

Designed for single-operator deployment with a minimal mobilization footprint, the PIVOT travelled to Antarctica as checked airline luggage thanks to its removable battery system, eliminating the cost and logistical complexity of shipping specialist robotic equipment to remote polar regions. Its compact design enabled rapid deployment and recovery in dynamic field conditions where traditional survey methods and diver operations were impractical.

The system captured 4K resolution imagery supporting benthic habitat surveys, hydrothermal vent reconnaissance at Deception Island, leopard seal behavioural documentation, and investigations of submerged whaling-era heritage sites. The team also documented glacier-influenced coastal environments, comparing present-day observations against maps from the 1921-22 Shackleton-Rowett Expedition to assess a century of glacial retreat.

Using observation-class ROV technology, researchers can collect georeferenced visual records in remote polar environments, supporting long-term environmental monitoring, marine ecology, and maritime heritage research while reducing human risk.
